In a very mixed type of mileage but only one run of 450 mile return, first 1800 miles, just short of 24 mpg.

Don’t see why it would be as low as 20 unless it was mainly stop start type short journeys.
24mpg is still very poor in my opinion. RS6 which I stupidly traded for the X3M for did over 30mpg on a run. I think that's why I thought the X3M was so poor, also in terms of ride quality- was night and day compared to the RS6 which was so much more liveable with.

I looked on many forums prior to the X3M with people saying "oooh I took X3M on test drive over variety of roads, it's not that bad"- so I stupidly pulled the trigger on it (without road testing myself). Still some people may like the way the X3M comp was set set up, but coming from the RS6, I was badly disappointed.
24 Average is what I stated in early car life. Car will do high 20s on a run.

Had an RS6 so i know what they do. If you bought the wrong car, put your hand up and be honest, don’t come up with fuel consumption as the thing that tipped you over the edge?

I also don’t know why youre surprised that the lighter better aero mclaren is better on fuel?

Fuel consumption was part of it- Yes I did buy the wrong car. Don't get me wrong love the looks of X3M but coupled with the poor ride, and spending my time at the pumps- not for me.

I tend to have a heavier right foot in the Mac. Plus the Mac rides way better than the X3M.

You obviously like your X3M Comp and I'm happy for you, enjoy in good health

. I was just disappointed it's not the usual polished M product that I'm used to.

A bit off thread but interested to hear your thoughts on living with the RS6 please? I think they still looks the business despite getting on a bit! What MPG pups you get on a steady motorway cruise? Good daily?

The C7 RS6 is a great daily. In my 2016 model got average of 30-35mpg on a run.It was very comfortable despite being on 21" wheels but also the performance incredible . I had air suspension and I actually think in some ways looks better than the current model.

Why did I part ex up against the X3M Comp? My wife wanted to sit up higher!

I actually miss the RS6 it has so many good attributes.

Cheers. They seem to be quite steady value wise for the 15/16 plate cars hovering around mid to high 40’s?

Update. Drove an X3MC today. It was immediately after an hour in my L405 FFRR so I thought that would amplify any issues with the ride. Additionally, it was 4 degrees c and on rock hard 21" summer tyres, so I was expecting it to be as bad as it ever would be...

It was excellent. Yes, it's robust, but a great trade off for the body control and feeling of stability.

Drove it quite a distance on a mixture of roads, and speeds - I aimed for potholes and manhole covers etc. and I cannot understand the criticism I have read. Yes it does sometimes skip or crash, but I think it is a better ride than many AMG, M and RS products I have tried and owned.

Funnily enough, I don't think it feels that fast, but the numbers don't lie - which probably shows how far refinement has come.

Im gonna cool off over the weekend, but pretty certain I will be ordering one.
I have to agree it's a great car robust as you say but the trade off is worth it as it covers ground like no other SUV, I agree on the fact it hides its speed well, you really have to watch the speedo.

Bit of a thread bump, so my car has arrived so all good there, but i have been given a dilemma! seeing as we are in lockdown and cannot do much i have been offered for it to be delivered on a trailer to my home or wait till beginning of March and get it on a fresh plate. Do i wait or just get it now? i am kinda leaning to getting it beginning of March but open to others views.

If you have transport to tide you over, and given the restrictions we're under at the moment, i think i'd be tempted to wait for the new plate.
Seems ridiculous for it to be sat on your driveway for 6 weeks doing nothing.

I do indeed have my current car and the main reason for thinking to wait, also have nothing planned apart from the north coast 500 for late sept.

Does it need to be registered by a certain date to take advantage of the finance offers? I would wait until March if not.

Out of interest, how long from order to delivery?

No the finance as all been done, I ordered it beginning of October and would of been ready for collection Mid Jan. the original plan was to get it end of Jan and plan a night over in central London on a Friday and go to Hawksmoor for dinner then collect on the Saturday but alas those plans got laid to waist. so yeah think I will collect March and get the new plate

Shame about not being able to make a day of it, but hopefully come March there will be an opportunity to do most of that!

Collected mine Saturday as well as wife’s M135i Donnington Grey red leather comfort pack and carbon internals, love the power only fast cars I’ve owned are A45 mapped to 414 and 440i with MPPSK.

For me it was a no brainier I did consider new M3 but decided against it as it’s RWD for the first few months, I also looked at M5 but wasn’t practical, my old X3 did everything well as my dad always said if you can’t get a mattress in the back it’s Ⓟⓞⓞ i shift rubbish IKEA runs it just worked for the family

Car came with latest dash all digital etc only issue I saw was when I compared Idrive 7 to the M135s I was missing a few settings like caring car etc, not that I need it but hey I had to ask, dealer confirmed when I take it for run in service he will run the update as I can’t do it myself but once done it should update over the web for the future something I saw on the wife’s in settings, so just check it out. Road noise is a bit annoying but you don’t by an M car to drive on a sponge. Anyway good luck to whoever’s buying one great functional fast suv

That car is now up for sale here: https://www.lookers.co.uk/volkswagen/used-car/bmw/...

What's not mentioned that he crashed it only a few months into his ownership, the video where talks about the crash has been taken off his channel now conveniently
