Hi all - I owned and adored this car and am looking to reunite with it after a long time apart and hopefully bring it to Oz where I'm based. It was low mileage, had light grey leather and rego started with P156. I know the rest of the license plate and VIN and have documentation.

It is listed as SORN since 2013 with the DVLA. I have contacted the guy I sold it to in Colchester, Essex and he put 19" Kahn RSS alloys on it (oh well) but he did supply the original wheels with it on sale. He said he saw it in Colchester BMW a while later after he sold it in 2004 to a local older guy. I'll be pursuing BMW Customer Services to see if they can trace history of services, and also Colchester BMW.

Anybody know of this tucked away somewhere safe??

It would help if you shared the full reg.

Why's that? (genuine question) - I haven't been in the UK for 18 years now so not sure of mechanisms that can be used to search (and also didn't want others searching and whipping it out from under my feet), unless I'm being too wary?

How many have that start of the reg?

People may google the reg* and see this thread / your interest.

Up to you obviously, but asking for help to find a car without all the details won’t be easy.

Also, people on here will happily try and help, I.e with the reg number you can see when / where it was last MOT’d which may help narrow down the search.

To see if it's insured use askMID.com

For tax use the DVLA tax check.

If it's not taxed or insured I'm not sure where you can go from there.

I've just found the link below on another PH page where someone is also looking for a previous car.

Google image search is good for this stuff, just stick the reg in and it's surprising what turns up.

I found my old 328 which I sold 10 years ago still going strong and the pride of someone's instagram, also turned up the for sale ads after I got rid.
