E63 my...buying dilemma...
Discussion
Hi all.
Mate is selling a stunning 2005 seprang coupe with carbon pack and premium sound etc
It's done 68k with Fbmwsh and its had nee msg pump and accumulator, new clutch, throttle actuators and a very comprehensive servicing record.
It's not had the shells done and has no warranty
So the dilemma is two fold...
Would you risk a purchase as it is above?
What would you suggest is a fair price to pay?
Many thanks

I bought one and still have it, please get the throttle actuators done at somewhere like rebuild.org.uk as a preventative maintenance. On an attempt to hit 200mph on the Autobahn in Germany while leaving Calais this fault occured, limiting the car to 88mph downhill for almost 2000 miles.
I had an oil analysis done at 97k, but still intend to do the shells at 120k. The clutch position sensor failed which caused about £3k worth of damage, in hindsight I'd do the manual conversion and may still get it done.
For me the E63 M6 is a flawed but brilliant car, it feels like BMW spent most of the R&D spend on the engine and then put the rest of the car together with what little time they had left e.g. cup holder bolted to the centre console, SMG III gearbox (even in secret mode 6 the shift is neck breaking), rear seats more cramped than an e92 m3, small 70L fuel tank (which you'll never get more than 63L in it).
They'll never make another and that's where the brilliance will mature over time, on numerous occasions where my trackcar has let me down, I've been able to take the M6 in it's place want to do a grand tour EuroTrip no problem.
You can't deny that a new M4, M3 or M2 competition is a more competent, reliable car but that V10 at 8250rpm is hair raising.

In answer to your question, you should be covered for the short haul with the aforementioned maintenance already completed. I don't rate the BMW throttle actuators at all, hence my advice on replacing them yet again.
I would estimate £10-11k for the car, since sepang isn't that much of a desirable colour (though I like it), black, interlagos blue are more popular.
Does it have full leather (includes the dash and instrument binnacle)?

Go into S85 V10 ownership with your eyes open, the love affair can quickly become abit of a nightmare.
Here is my old thread (one of many during my 18 months of ownership) from 2014.

When I finally got it fixed, it was pretty much as new but the aggro of ownership is simply not worth it in my opinion.

Really In that whole thread , all you needed to do was replace the clutch an flywheel . ? Here is my old thread (one of many during my 18 months of ownership) from 2014.

It’s a 4 hour job I’ve done 2 in a day including all adaptations. Expensive cars come with big bills if you can’t spanner . That goes for all cars does it not ?
