That is a late registration.? What is the colour and mileage.? Manual or SMG.?
That would be a vert...

Last coupes globally were produced between 22-24th May 2006 - all RHD, quite a few CS amongst them, both for the UK and Aussie mkt. I had the 10th penultimate coupe... CB on Imola Red interior...

The biggest problem i can see to a 25-30 k low mileage e46 m3 is an m2.
ive owned both and as much as i loved my m3 to which was well looked after as i took care of all the obvious jobs (except rod bearings), upgraded the brakes, bushings all round, new shocks, springs and new wheel bearings etc is that the m2 is just far superior in everyway.
my m3 was always reliable and i used it as i pace note car for my rallys, needless to say it got driven hard atleast once a month and in between time served almost as a daily driver. it had 130k miles once id finished with it.

but as mentioned above my m2 is superior in everyway, faster, a better steer, more playful, slides better, stops a million times better, its a nicer place to sit and has more mod cons and thats completly stock. then theres the subjective differences of looks, i love the way the e46 m3 looks and mine was velvet blue which was a stunning colour but the m2 just looks squatter, meaner and just better. to my eyes atleast.

summary, both superb cars but the m2 rectifys much of the m3's wrongs so given the choice, id save a little more and buy an m2. a 15k m3 on the other hand is a different animal but as mentioned, brace yourselves for some nice bills if you want to keep/make it healthy.

ive returned to bmw after having a varity of other cars including an rs3 and a c63 (the 6.2 version) amg and i know its personal preference but im in love with my m2. bmw know how to make a proper all round drivers car that you can still pop to the the shops in

This thread is about the E46 M3 collectability..? Not a comparison of the E46 M3 and M2.... they are two different cars of different eras..? I own and drive both and the M3 makes me smile just as much as the M2 but in different ways, imo the driving experience of the M3 will never replicated which is part of the desirability....driving

indeed but thats exactly why its relavent, the biggest problem for me atleast (everybody has there own opinion) as to why the m3 isnt that collectable/desireable is the fact that the m2 exists.
obviously some people prefer "classic" cars to newer models, i simply enjoy a car that i can get the most from, that said if funds allowed id have both in my garage, and an rs3 (because that was awsome in its own right) and the c63 and a whole host of other vehicles 🤣🤣
never the less it was a good car but having been lucky enough to drive or own quite an eclectic selection of cars its not as great as some people would lead you to believe and deffinetly not worth anywhere near 30k taking into account what else is on offer, but again just my 2 cents
