The deed is done! Money is paid, just waiting delivery which will be on Monday. I was meant to pick it up today but something happened with work which means I’m stuck. The car is in Glasgow which means no matter how you spin it, it’s a minimum 10 hour return trip from Surrey frown

I placed a deposit last week and was waiting for the car to be prepped.

I’m psyched and I think I paid a good price.

So, the car is a 2017 (17) LCI M4 Competition in Yas Marina Blue with black leather, options are the following,

HUD
HK Audio
360 Camera - park assist
Speed limit display
Carbon Fibre trim
Enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging (can anyone explain what enhanced Bluetooth is? Can’t find anything online)

The mileage is 32,000, it’s just had the major service, 4 disks and pads changed and 2 brand new Michelin’s.

Total price? 33,995!

I wanted to wait til at least the 12th before I buy, so I can test drive a few and decide between competition pack/non competition pack, convertible or coupe but Ive been studying M4 prices since January and haven’t seen any at that price with that spec. It also benefits with a full BMW warranty which is the most important thing for me.

Here’s a poor quality screenshotted picture from the video

It’s hard to put into words how excited I am to get behind the wheel of this, have wanted to buy one for at least 3 years!

Congrats. In the convertible camp here as they sound naff in coupe form - roof down really let’s you enjoy at low and higher speeds.

Either way, you’ll have a cracking time. Enjoy it - take your time to learn it, they’re bloody fast!

Nice. Has it got the touch screen?. Think it changed late 2017 a couple of mths after LCI and became standard. We missed out on ours by a couple of weeks!

I was under the understanding the newer idrive introduced in the 66 reg cars had the touch screen. Must have been wrong, not a big deal though.

I actually hate touch screen but wished my C-Class had it as the touch pads and swivel wheel was so crap, I’d actually had rather use touch screen only, that’s saying something! Good job the idrive is brilliant, I had a 65 plate 4 series and while the interior isn’t as glamorous or nice looking as it’s rivals, it was definitely a lot better.

After scouring M4 videos YouTube and finding a night drive POV, I was quite relieved to see the dials are lit up in white instead of the orange on the non M models. There were times, id think im driving a E36 with the orange dials in the 4 series hehe

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I can’t wait to see what the fuss is about; every person I’ve spoken to has told me they’re very intense and love spinning the rears. I’ve already though of a nickname for it, the Dragon Lady, after the U-2 spy plane that’s allegedly notoriously hard to handle cool

Congrats.
That really struck me as a good price.
I prefer the non-touch iDrive, so no loss. It's a performance car not a computer.
I understand enhanced bluetooth to playing music from phones, pairing another phone which can take calls and reading text messages. But what it is may vary by generation.

How are they delivering it?

Don’t believe everything you hear. Sure if it’s wet you have to be careful but unless driving like a loon it’s a perfectly grounded performance car with lots of grip on the right tyres.

Enjoy!!

Agree and because I'm a short arse I can't even reach the touchscreen from the drivers seat anyway! I just use the idrive controller. I have missed the BMW idrive and it is a system that I enjoy using(unlike the Mercedes offering).

After scaring myself silly the other day in mine I've started enjoying just driving steady in it...probably a waste some might say...but I don't fancy ending up in a field though!

I might have a play around and see if the car works better with the traction fully one rather than MDM mode when you fully plant it.

Congratulations! Specifications looks good too; 360 camera has saved my alloys many a time and I thought a HUD would be a little gimmicky but it's really helpful. I wouldn't be too bothered about the touchscreen if you don't have it, I tried it once, left fingerprints and not used it in 18 months. It's much easier to use the idrive controls in the centre.

They're really not a handful unless provoked or you drive like a tool. I've had the DSC flicker once on the road from memory so that gives an indication of how I drive. Same went for my C63 which I had before, a car with a lively reputation that never bit me.

Congrats mate. I love my Yas Blue M4 as well. The colour changes depending on the weather. Always gets admiring looks when the sun is shining on it as it really makes it pop. Looks like you have all the main boxes ticked. Enhanced Bluetooth enables stuff like music streaming and album cover art when using Spotify etc.

It's a hell of a lot of car for the money, and the tech inside it is still pretty much up to date with the latest stuff today. Just take your time with the car when driving it and allow yourself to get used to it slowly. I have still never turned the TC completely off and usually use MDM mode which allows some sliding of the back end but will stop you putting yourself into the nearest hedge. Enjoy.

I'm fairly experienced with RWD and I've had one since 2002 but the torquey nature of the M4 has been pretty eye opening for me for sure. I've been using MDM for fun but some videos suggest that the car behaves better with everything off. I don't feel confident to do that yet with it(only had it just under 2 weeks), but if I put my brave pants on I think it could be worth a try though(I always drove my E92 M3 with everything off in the dry).

In the wet I'm definitely not going anywhere near the throttle! hehe

Congrats, looks ace, I like YMB, think it looks best on a comp pack like yours though.

Am getting nearer myself, ten grand and my car put aside, can borrow the balance at a very good rate.

Was dead set against a convertible but have come round to it a bit more. Just need to convince the wife who makes the very good point that I never actually drive anywhere biggrin 35 grand driveway ornament that I cycle past on a regular basis on my way out for a ride.

I've just ordered some OEM black gloss front grills for my boggo M4. I really like the black front gills/side gills on the comp pack. cool

Nice, not actually looked at why, YMB just seems more appealing on a comp pack, must be the black bits.

I find my colour preferences change over time with these though, Austin Yellow I blow hot and cold on, can look stunning but sometimes I just dont like it.

Silverstone is a nice safe bet, like them in Alpine white with the M stripey stuff, Mineral white on its own is nice.

Black looks good but a mare to keep clean. Mineral Grey looks good but a bit plain.

Sakhir I think is my favorite, or wouldnt mind something in one of the individual colours particularly Purple Silk. Trouble is, people team it, particualrly on a convertible with light leather and it tends to look a bit too much.

Or Obviously SMB but they always seem a bit higher than my budget !
