Just need to convince the wife who makes the very good point that I never actually drive anywhere 35 grand driveway ornament that I cycle past on a regular basis on my way out for a ride.
Pretty much the same for me, I probably cycle as many miles as I drive. The M4 swallows a bike at least so as practical as I need it to be. J4CKO said:

Congrats, looks ace, I like YMB, think it looks best on a comp pack like yours though.
I've just ordered some OEM black gloss front grills for my boggo M4. I really like the black front grills/side gills on the comp pack. I find my colour preferences change over time with these though, Austin Yellow I blow hot and cold on, can look stunning but sometimes I just dont like it.
Silverstone is a nice safe bet, like them in Alpine white with the M stripey stuff, Mineral white on its own is nice.
Black looks good but a mare to keep clean. Mineral Grey looks good but a bit plain.
Sakhir I think is my favorite, or wouldnt mind something in one of the individual colours particularly Purple Silk. Trouble is, people team it, particualrly on a convertible with light leather and it tends to look a bit too much.
Or Obviously SMB but they always seem a bit higher than my budget !
I test drove a Mineral white M4 Convertible back in 2016 and I really liked it. Roof down I really enjoyed how well you could hear the exhaust too. Plus the neck warmers were a cool feature as well I thought.
I like the stealthy nature of a black M4 but as you say they're not easy to keep looking nice.
That Purple Silk colour is an absolute stunner to my eyes.
I'm definitely smitten with SMB on mine cheers.

Whats your feelings of it vs your V8 ?
That is easy...a million times better(for me) being fair, (although I can't deny that I do love V8's for sure/well V8's that have some torque). My E92 M3 didn't get close to living up to my expectations sadly(I really wanted it to though), but the M4 has blown me away for definite. I'm completely smitten with it thanks.
What I do think is really good about the V8 M3 though in comparison to the M4 is how much easier it is to drive quickly. It has a far more predictable power delivery and I felt more confident in it overall(maybe in time I will feel the same with the M4 though).
I never thought twice about switching the traction control off in the V8 M3, whereas in the M4 I'm not sure if it is the most wise thing to do. Time and more experience with the car will tell me though.

I know many people now that have stopped leases, loans and overall exposure to debt and have brought second hand cars for cash. These M4 will also deprecate further once the new models roll out, especially when BMW off deals, meaning you asset will be loosing you money, hence the phrase if it looses money lease it, if it gains money buy it.
Why do people say to lease if it loses money and buy if it gains? Linked to repossession?Genuinely curious - haven’t heard that before.

Not repossession. Often leasing is cheaper than buying, especially with high-end vehicles where they hemorrhage money in the first 2-3 years. The lease payments can be less than the depreciation so if you change your car regularly it makes sense. Never finance a depreciating asset was always the golden rule. Saying that, cash is no longer king. Cash-flow is king. If you're buying something that increases in value (property, art, certain cars etc) then owning it makes sense but how you buy it (cash/finance) depends on where your money works best. Genuinely curious - haven’t heard that before.

The M Dynamic mode is a good in-between to learn the car. It allows loss of traction up to a certain (modest) level of yaw. I also suggest to keep the throttle in Comfort mode for better modulation and progressivity.I never thought twice about switching the traction control off in the V8 M3, whereas in the M4 I'm not sure if it is the most wise thing to do. I'm using MDM currently when I'm pushing on, but I'm going to try the throttle in comfort then now. Cheers.
Looks amazing and I love the colour!
Speaking of colours, following up from the conversation about them and comp packs, I think the pastel like colours suit the comp packs much more than the non black packs/comp packs, for example, the Yas marina blue, sakhir orange and Austin yellow. They wouldn’t look good at all with chrome grills IMO.
Dream spec for me is a carbon black competition pack with the chrome grills, exhaust, side vents and normal wheels but they don’t exist! I actually haven’t come across any LCI carbon black M4’s since I started looking!
The great thing about San Marino blue is that it looks ace with chrome and de chrome!

Thanks a lot. The great thing about San Marino blue is that it looks ace with chrome and de chrome!
Yes and I agree with you that San Marino blue does look good either way which I guess is rare. I couldn't wait to get rid of the chrome on the Mini, but I didn't feel like that with this.
I bet you are getting properly excited about yours.

Ah don’t! Been a nightmare, I managed to arrange delivery on friday (yesterday) instead of Monday (12th) and the salesman called and said they can’t release the car as the previous owner had a private reg and they haven’t received the logbook. It should have been a simple fix of calling DVLA but they’ve only gone on strike for the week! Anyways I’ve cancelled the transport for monday and I will be getting the train and driving back; I want to say I’m excited but I feel like something else is going to go wrong and that I’ll have to wait longer

It has all been fun and games then mate from the sound of it. I can assure you that the car will be worth the wait though. For the first time in a while I had the car in Sport+ for all settings, traction fully off, except gearshift. Strangely, the car does feel a lot more alert with traction fully off. I wasn’t driving particularly ‘spiritedly’ but it definitely felt more free. Gentle with the right foot, but right throttle at the right speeds, angles and the car drives predictably.
Part of the enjoyment for me has been taking the time and exploring the car in the various modes. I’ve never tracked it. But definitely plan to take to a ‘Car Limits’ day. They’re excellent and very safe places to explore the car without driver aids.
Picked up the M4 today, wow wow wow wow!!
This is a dragon on wheels, this is ridiculous, I am not ready for a car like this!
First things first, the car terrified me from the moment I past 20 mph because I felt the rear squirm instantly, everything felt on edge and I just couldn’t get on with the DCT and throttle. I set off in it with everything in comfort and I still felt intimidated.
After a 2-3 hours on the M6, I pulled into a service station and when I set off, the car had transformed, not only because I began to understand the DCT and throttle, but the tyres had some heat in them. I accelerated out of the slip road on the sportiest setting and it had great traction and wasn’t anywhere near as squirmy.
HOWEVER, that was driving on a smooth, newly resurfaced slip road. When I got home, I took my brother out in it and it was very edgy but in a good way, it was really fun but very angry. Bear in mind the traction was on the whole time and the back end still slipped out more than a few times. Granted the gearbox was in its sportiest settings however I like the hard changes for the theatre.
The MDM mode won’t be considered for a while!
The car is on Michelin PSS on about 5mm and a few posters said the MP4S’s are best for the rear tyres and PSS for the front, is this recommended? The fronts are brand new PSS’s.
The noise when the valves are open is frankly ridiculous, it’s actually hilarious, especially when you’re creeping in 1st or 2nd
The colour is amazing and a true head turner!
Things I don’t like
The merino leather, I feel like it’s too soft and I found myself slipping out of my position quite often, the leather also seems really delicate. I hated the Dakota leather on my previous 4 series but i felt like it held me better.
The tyre noise! Wow, I’ve owned a Civic Type R on 20 inch wheels with the same tyre profile however I didn’t drive 7 hours from Scotland to Surrey in it, the tyre roar really was punishing and very loud.
That’s about it, I’ve enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a picture of it in the sun! Only remembered to take a photo of it when I got home

Most of the M cars I've had give a better driving experience if you turn the aids off and go old school. esp. the M4. Otherwise the car pulls power and gives you the illusion you're losing traction. Initially, best treat it like an old Capri and then you'll find its limits easily. Otherwise, with all the aids on after a bit of familiarity you'll end up driving hard and then when they go, they go. No warning. If you're not pressing on and the weather is a bit crap then all the trickery helps
