Struggling to find a pair of pilot super sports for the M4, nobody seems to stock them!

I’d get a full set of 4s’s however the 2 front tyres are nearly new!

Any suggestions? I’m based in Surrey

If it was me I would get 2 ps4s for the rear and leave the fronts. That seems a popular set up on M3 cutters
I managed to find some! 30£ more expensive a pair. I would have gotten the ps4s however I’m weary of mixing and matching, the car is a handful as it is, it might be proven but I’m more of a play it safe kind of man, thanks for the advice though smile

Every car I’ve had with a reversing cam I’ve had or driven (including a 2009 Honda CRV), they’ve had night vision or whatever it is where everything goes grey and visible.

Not sure how this doesn’t have it!

Anyways, small update.

after driving my brothers MK8 Golf R, it’s made me wonder and think about the M4, how hard it is to go really fast and how edgy it is, the Golf R is the faster car full stop and it does it without breaking a sweat. Yes it’s muted but it’s so effective at the same time!

They are completely different cars of course and shouldn’t be compared but it did make me think about joining the AWD side however after a joining a sliproad with my brother in his Golf behind me, it really opened my eyes to how hard the M4 pulls and how powerful it is, I really did leave him behind despite me being convinced the Golf is just as quick in a straight.

The Golf is miles quicker in the bends as it’s so much more easy to control

It felt nice not having to worry about the back end or traction when flooring the Golf and I did explore the classifieds, the only AWD I thought of that I would replace the M4 with was a Nissan GTR and 09 plates with 70k miles are going for 35-40. They have really good residuals, 2017+ models all 50k plus.

I love my M4 but every now and then I do consider changing it, usually when the weather is cold or wet but then the sun would come out, the stance, the engine and the Yas Marina blue makes me want to keep it forever biggrin

The new M3/M4 x drive are going to be unbelievably quick, I don’t ever see them getting anywhere near 30k for a long long time.

The Nissan GTR has always been a dream car for me(I know that it is big/heavy/auto etc though).

If I'm ever in a position to afford the current M4 I'd definitely go for the M4 xDrive for sure. I think the switchable mode from 4WD to RWD is too hard to resist, and for me it offers the best of both worlds(grip or fun at the flick of a switch).
I love BMW’s but im a Japanese car fan boy deep down, and I wish we had more choice, it explains the excellent residuals of the GTR as it doesn’t have a direct competition, GTR’s are in their own lane and have their own market as 911/R8 owners are too busy trying to figure out if their cars are super cars or not hehe

There is no reason for the cheapest S2k to be 8k with 150k miles, nor is there any reason for a half decent near 20 year old evo 9 cost 20k other than the fact they don’t have any replacements.

Ah, petrolhead ism, you’re always thinking about the next car frown

I was in waitrose and I got stopped by a guy who kept looking at me and asked if I owned the blue M4, he works for BMW and said there is a shortage of M4’s in the used market and said he has a few interested buyers and said if I want to sell, give him a call.

I had a look on autotrader and pre LCI M4 competitions are going for 35k without BMW warranties. I bought mine for 34 from BMW, it’s just had a service, disks and pads changed and has 4 nearly new tyres.

Im thinking, I might be able to turn over a quick profit. I contacted the guy and he said he’ll get back to me, in the meantime I could also advertise mine and see what happens.

The question is, what do I replace it with! I feel like any Fast BMW is going to be inferior to the M4 so it won’t be a M140i or anything, I couldn’t think of anything else so looked at Honda’s, EP3 Type R’s are 5k minimum for an early ratty one, DC3 Integra’s are 12k minimum too and FK8 Type R’s are 25 minimum, I sold mine for 22 in Dec 2019!

What is going on with used car prices and what would you do if you were me?

The M4 makes my heart melt but it is extremely fast, winter is looming and the thought of a light cheap NA manual engaging hot hatch does appeal at the moment

I've just tried all 3 settings for the steering to see which one suits me best, and I've come to the conclusion that none of them are all that great! hehe

Comfort feels too woolly I reckon, and sport and sport plus just don't feel direct enough for me personally. Maybe in time I will get more used to the steering though to be fair.

I think that I definitely prefer hydraulic steering in comparison to electric steering for sure. In general driving I don't mind the steering in fairness, but it just doesn't feel quite right when you start to push on a bit for me.
You know what, I hate to say it but the steering is utter utter ste, I’m not going to pretend I’m a good driver nor am I going to pretend I know what proper steering feels like but all I know is, the steering in the M4 does not feel right at all! Mid corner I’m turning hard and the steering feels so numb, I finally know what car reviewers mean when they criticize the steering. You feel the car turning, you know you’re in control of the turn but you have absolutely no feel which doesn’t inspire confidence at all, it just doesn’t feel connected.

The plot thickens as my brothers mK8 Golf R feels more stable and planted at high speeds, and I’m ashamed to admit it as this is PH, but even at reckless driving, the Golf feels so much more safer and easier to do high speeds in, I’m talking 120+. There is a long stretch of road on the A3 near where I live and it’s empty at midnight and I’ve never gone past 140 mph in my M4 as it just doesn’t feel right where as I’ve done 150 in my Civic Type R and I only lifted off because I ran out of road. I haven’t taken my brothers Golf there but I reckon I can easily hit the limiter.

I can’t pin point what it is exactly but the M4 just doesn’t feel that safe doing high speeds and I think it has a lot to do with the steering.

Having said that, the Golf R has the same issue of lacking feel in the bends but it does feel more planted. Yes it’s AWD but I don’t drive my M4 like an idiot where it’s losing traction.

While I’m here I’ll give an update on the M4, a trader has taken it off my hands to sell, he said anything over 36k, he keeps, the rest is mine. I paid 34 for it with a 6k loan, the settlement figure is 26,800, I done the maths, I’ll get around 9k back. I’ll get my monthly payments back and the fuel I paid which is around 85£ a week over 3 months. Yes all the other used cars have inflated but I’ve decided to go back to basics. I’m looking at FN2 Civic Type R’s for 4k and just have a laugh in that, I’ll be able to properly enjoy myself as frankly, the M4 is just too much of an animal.

It saddens me to see it go however I expected and prepared myself to lose 4k after a years ownership as that’s what I usually pay to lease my cars so when I was offered my money back, it was a no brainer plus I love Honda’s, ask Nick wink
