There's a check box called model specific design elements that appears to remove most of the stripes.
Ok, thanks, will look for that
Nope; can’t see that option at all on the version of the configurator that opens for me.

Spoken to a helpful sales guy at my local AD who is a M-Perf outlet too. Says ‘would be a lottery’ but happy to take interest forward if I can detail BMW history and ‘intent for the car’. That will be a short communication…

Anyone got any close up images of the brakes? Rear callipers look like single piston sliding shoe jobs from what I’ve seen; can’t be right on CCBs surely…

Yep the rear calipers are small to "save weight and allow the concave wheels" rolleyes

Maybe I’m being over-picky but this does not look like what I’d expect on a track focused flagship at £130+k

Looks like something off an old Mondeo

Its a common observation but do you want them to look good or work well?

Cue PHer’s saying the look of the brakes are the least of your worries with the CSL.

Would the rear brake as posted be a deal breaker for you?

I think it’s fair to say I don’t like it and it never occurred to me a car of this ilk would run a set up like that, regardless of the justification. If I was ever in the running to purchase a car at this level (doubtful I’ll get the chance on one of these), I’d want to be happy something as fundamental as brakes was ‘right’ in all respects… homework to do if the stars line up otherwise.

If you say so. I prefer to see enthusiast cars to belong to enthusiasts.

That would only bother me if I was in the market for that car and only if your guess is correct about the 99%. It might be 5% for all we / you know.

99% was a very loose guess, please don't get hung up on my statistics;)

I can't argue with you regarding this either. Both the strut brace and the rear calipers are a big step back from the F8x cars I reckon as well.

I'd still love to own a G8x one day for sure, but I genuinely can't understand why the new generation car would go backwards in this regard though.

The carbon strut brace on the f8x isn’t as effective as the standard g8x one though but the CSL strut brace is very different to the stock one and looks to be cast aluminium and i much prefer the looks to it

The CSL brace is also hollow, strong but light. It’s easy to get hung up on the F8x carbon brace though ‘cause, well it’s carbon.

Yes and I'm sure that the F8x carbon brace probably does absolutely nothing, but I just love the way that it looks though. cool

I’ve no doubt it does something but it’s a nice bit of porn under the hood. I don’t get to see the wonderful engine in my GT4.
Early F8x cars had a carbon fibre prop shaft as well but that was dropped on later models.
