So has anyone on this thread actually driven the car??
You literally replied to the one person in this thread who's actually had one delivered...like one page back...
I did reply to him. Literally, as you say. Using words.

The meaning of my post was more about the fact the car has been out for a few weeks and lots of people on here were bragging about being top of their dealer’s list for delivery so I’m wondering if there’s anyone who has any sensible experience and knowledge to share. Other than the guy who knows nothing about the car and bought it to rent out anyway.

I’m very interested in how real people are getting on with the car in the real world because I might buy one next year.

This thread was busy and full of opinion right up to the point the car was released.

Hope that helps.

There doesn't seem to have been much chat in here about driving and owning the car itself, I'm guessing partly down to the fact that the majority of posts seem to be about how its too expensive/ugly because of the grille/people explaining why they wouldn't want one and why you could get a M340 and save some cash.

I think most places have now done their reviews and they seem to be overwhelmingly positive in terms of how it drives and how the XDrive system allows you to enjoy the car and get the power down, even at this time of the year. Reviewers seem to be saying it's much more fun and sharp than the current RS4.

Largely seems to handle just like the saloon & coupe does. Bit more tyre noise, but maybe some more & better exhaust noise due to the layout.

Opinion on the dash & iDrive seems much more subjective as you'd expect.

Owners on the model-specific forum/Facebook groups seem to love them - but that's not surprising given the great reviews of the car its based on I guess.

There's a lot more cars due in the UK over the next couple of months and a lot more of them specced up with the carbon bucket seats etc.

Probably as most of those who own one are trying to flip it and don’t want to put miles on them !! There are some nice photos on M3Cutters but not a lot on driving them

I’m just fascinated to hear from all the people who were telling the rest of us about how their local dealer was “looking after them” and that they were “guaranteed first cars in the UK” (just read through this thread to see who I’m talking about). Whatever happened?? And I don’t think everyone is waiting for a new plate. That’s gone the same way as getting an updated map at the running in service.

I still have been allocated one of the 3 cars they have coming; only issue is they still don't have any if the 3 yet and still do not have any info when they are arriving.

Might just be the same for others on here.

I don't see it as an issue, but I am still undecided if I shall take the allocation when it comes.

It was nice to drive, and with the carbon spec it was lovely inside, but still trying to get my head around a 3 series estate being £100k.

However, I got my head around a Range Rover sport being £115k, so I suppose it is what it is.

That's strange they still don't have any info on their allocation & build dates?

Mine is due to go in to production next week, so should be here mid-March. Am just planning a couple of road trips to get through those first 1500 miles asap.

What's the base price now, is it 84 or so? The price is what it is and other similarly specced cars (in estate or SUV form) from Audi, Merc, Porsche etc are all also similarly priced, if not more.

Yep, cars have got more expensive and with no discount/contribution and high APR it’s quite difficult to compare cars from a few years ago, ie a RRS which I bought 6 years ago outright and thought was expensive now seems a bargain!!!!!

Had a quick chat with a BMW dealer today and the M3 Touring came up in conversation.

Apparently they're sold out of their allocation until mid next year, and as you say there's no contributions or promotional finance so you've got to REALLY want one and be willing to wait.

The figures for a base spec were £20k deposit, £1k / month at 9.9%, and that's from someone who's renowned for their deals. Obviously there are other ways to finance which may be cheaper.

Not for me.

Apparently it was a combination of cold weather, summer tyres and I can only guess the limit of the driver's ability.

Or one of those "watch this" moments.

To crash a BM with their 4WD system you must be some sort of lunatic.

4wd does not really make it go around corners any better than a 2wd, it is good for traction which just means you might arrive at the fateful corner quicker.

Ok, maybe a bit of torque vectoring might help but the contact patch is what holds you on around a corner.

I'm no detective but looks very much like a Swiss or Austrian part of Europe judging by the pic .... and one where winter tyres are a legal requirement from 1st Nov till 15th April.

So, the driver knew it was cold and knew the car was on winter tyres. 100% operator error. redcard

Yes, it was in Switzerland. Two threads on different boards have said that winter tyres weren't a legal requirement where the accident took place, but that insurers may try and use summer tyres as a reason not to pay out in the event of an accident.

It must be the same car I saw a picture of ages ago which was on a straight road and was blamed on trying to avoid wildlife...

Found it, was back at the start of January and comments then suggested it was a case of too much throttle on a damp road whilst also trying to avoid something.

I didn't think there were any specific dates but it was based on conditions. Might be specific to particular Cantons in CH perhaps?
