I have one of those rear seat hammock things, and am thinking about moving to an M2. Anyone here in a similar scenario, it would be great to hear.

Not overly keen on the M3, too big for when I don't have others in the car, for my liking.

How big is the dog? Will it ever enter the car wet & muddy or just very occasionally?

Get a good harness for the dog, a waterproof (but fluffy) base sheet and a seat belt connector and you're sorted. Carried a 25kg Huntaway around Norfolk for a week in a F90 with no dramas (even when she dribbles). If you're really precious, buy a doggies dressing gown, sort of wraps around them when they've been swimming etc (also useful when they're hot - you spray it)

OG M2s have VERY hard wearing leather, the same as standard M sport cars.

It makes them quite handy cars for ferrying kids, bikes, and perhaps even dogs around.

I'd still go to Dunelm and buy a load of blankets to coat the inside of the car with though!

Perhaps going nuts with some upholstery protector spay wouldn't hurt too, esp on the alcantara on the door trims. Scotchgard or Armor All or similar

I carry our Labrador in the back of my M2 Competition no problem, I got a hammock style seat cover off Amazon which anchors onto the seat headrests.
The back of the driving seats do get a little dirty over time but it doesn't take long to clean them.
Been up to Scotland and all over in it.
It's a well behaved dog though, you wouldn't know he's there.

Thanks all,

We have a cocker spaniel, he's only small. We would consider a larger dog in the future, however, although probably not quite lab size.

I'd be able to lift my dog in, as I do at the moment. What do you guys do? Does the dog jump in on his/her own?

They jump in when they're used to it. Keep the doors and windows closed when you have a cold start though

Slightly different but our dog sometimes goes harnessed into the back of my e46 M3 on one of those hammocks. Wouldn’t want to do it all the time, but if it’s infrequent it will be fine!
