If only 'Dakar Yellow' was a standard option....

It would make a good stable mate for these three...
Dakar, Phoenix, Austin, or Speed yellows may not be coming but another rumour is that San Paolo Yellow IS coming from the M3/M4 to the M2.

I'd love it if the purple (blue) was Macao. That's one of the 7 classic M colours along with Dakar.

I agree - may be in common usage (at least on PH) but 'pulled the trigger' is still, to my mind, a silly expression. What's wrong with 'buying'?

Was out with the young lad in the M2 demo and M3 touring demo yesterday as he is looking to replace his M4 comp convertible.

We had a battering of sleet and snow yesterday so it was a tad unfair comparison.

The M2 is a great car but surprisingly the exact same length as his 2019 M4...I didn't realise that.

Demo had the carbon kit fitted, the titanium exhaust and comfort seats.

Great car but seriously skittish I the conditions, same as his current M4.

M3 touring was an eye-opener.

The way it hooked up in the conditions was mind boggling.

The carbon seats fitted were stunning but hip bolster awkward to get in and out of.

Both great cars for totally different reasons.

M2 ruled out as the x drive is such a gamechanger on an M car; so he is now deciding between the m3 touring or the newer m4 cab.

Enjoy your M2 OP.

Having now owned and run both the New M2 and M240IXDrive side by side especially as a daily imo the 240 is the better more comfortable car with the benefit of the four wheel drive and it doesn't really feel that much slower at all and it has a sunroof which I can't have in the M2...hehe

The new M2 is clearly a much bigger car than the original, but is still around 90mm shorter than the previous gen M4. It's not much longer than a current 911 and I've never considered that a big car.

Original M2 - 4468mm
Current M2 - 4590mm
Original M4 - 4671mm
Current M4 - 4794mm
Carrera Turbo - 4535mm

We have one and it's great so far 🙂

When I had the demo for a day I took my M4 out of the garage for some size comparison pictures.

The M2 is a tad shorter but also taller and wider than the F82.

They don't do the purple 'Thundernight' in the M2.
Yet.

Although the much rumoured return of a classic M palette purple for the M2 could well be Techno Violet which would be awesome.
After I posted I did some looking and realised I’d seen 220 M Sports or something like that in Thundernight.

I've always felt that the previous gen M4 was just about the right size/profile. The new M2 is wider and the same width as the current M4

There's a You tube review of the new M2 and M4 side by side and its noticeable that the sloping roof on the M4 continues into the rear screen, whereas the M2 roof seems to finish more abruptly before the rear screen. The M2 looks more upright and less of a coupe as a result.

That said, to my eyes, the current M4 is now just that bit too long.....almost Audi A7 ish in profile. It looks good in GT3 format though.

I would agree with everything you say there. In my eyes also, the F82 M4 is aging better than the F80 M3 is. It looks less boxy and more sleek, and the proportions are absolutely perfect.

I do like both the new M2 and the M4, but they aren’t conventionally good looking. More of a wow, that’s different, in a good way!

Thanks for sharing. First time seeing an M2 in that colour. It looks like it really suits it.

I bought an M3 because X Drive. I think the M2 will eventually get it as well, maybe in Comp guise. There was no discounts available on the 2 when i ordered and so it was "only" a few k difference to a more practical M3. Saloon not touring though!

seen one of these for the first time in the flesh at a coffee & cars event last weekend; red with lovely aftermarket silver wheels that suited the car really well. I actually wasn't offended by it, apart from when looking at the front directly.

I wouldn't say no to one in the future, particularly a Competition Pack version when they get launched Q2-Q3 2024. I wonder what colours and mechanical changes the Comp Packs will come in?... here's hoping for an Estoril Blue or a hark back to some classic M3 colours. Techno Violet would look superb.

Is it just me, or is this M2 an exercise in severe cost-cutting by BMW? It's made in Mexico (first M car?), it's based on the CLAR LK platform which comes with the aforementioned pros and cons all that brings, less colours available at launch compared with previous M2/M3s...

More importantly, ask yourself why something so meaningless winds you up, its just a saying that people use or maybe over use but its really unimportant.

But for it to wind you up is far more an indication that you have some serious issues in your life, its actually good that you’ve noticed but its now up to you to use that indicator to address whatever the underlying issues is.

Or, you can laugh at that advice and carry on thinking that someones saying on the internet is an important issue, your choice smile

Can't decide whether that looks great or it's too Halfords parts bin. It's a shame the M2 has gone this way - it had a crude but curvy look that worked well before for a small M car.

That's good to hear. I've got the current M440i GC and am thinking about changing in the new year as I don't need something quite so big. The M2 and the M240i are both on the list. I'd love a final hurrah car before electrification takes over, and the M2 fits the bill, but the B58 coupled with the need for something that'll comfortably get to and from the south of France twice a year without draining me too much is probably wiser. It sounds daft, but I also don't love any of the colours on the M2 - although my local dealership did say something about being able to spec some of the individual paints... not sure if anyone had experience of that.
