I totally agree... I think the problem is simply you can't compare the two as been a comparison to each other if that makes sense.... Personally had i been buying the M2 as a daily i would have gone auto but i went for Manual because it's more fun to drive and as i have said before it's going to be the last ICE ///M car with the Manual option. I didn't have a choice with the M240i XDrive as it only comes with Auto but i wouldn't have ticked the Manual option anyway as it's used as a daily now on 25K miles in little over a year.

Been lots said about the carbon seats and the manual. I do love the look of those seats and they are lovely to sit in (M3 touring I sat in)….

I really like these now have just put a deposit on one. Great value when you think the new GR Yaris is close to £50k. The M2 offers so much more for a small uplift

I test drove an F87 Comp last week, which I liked, but left the showroom having signed up to a two year lease on a new G87 auto.

I've always bought used and paid cash, but this lease deal potentially gets me into a new car for the same cost, over two years, as a four year old one.

Here's the maths;

G87 deposit £5,470 plus 23 x £455, so just under £16k all in. Standard spec, which is higher than a fully optioned F87.

2020 F87 Comp auto £36k. Retail value in 2 yrs say £28k, so I'd get say £23k. That's potentially £13k depreciation plus £895 for second year warranty plus c.£3k lost interest on £30k of savings.

Even if F87's hold their money really well it's not going to have cost much more to get into a new car and I don't have the hassle of selling it.

Arrives some time in May, hopefully.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, close or better depending on mileage to the deal I and other have got through Contract Cars. My local dealership couldn't get anywhere near that price.

I came to the same conclusion about the F87 really, road tax and all the rest of it. Weirdly the insurance quotes I was getting were 30-40% higher on the F87 too.

I'm jealous because mine is expected as 18 weeks factory order!

The thing that lets the manual BMWs down is the shock absorber they put in the shifter. You can replace this with a solid bushing, Tuner now sell a complete replacement for the Fxx series, sure they will add one soon for the latest models.

Are they still putting the CDV in their manuals as well?
If so, pop the grommet out of it.

Yes I've found the insurance quotes c.30% cheaper on the G87, but being a lease car the choice of insurers is limited and I might have to take my chances with Admiral.
