Quick question - is it analogue or digital? Or did it switch after a certain year?

thanks

I think all E46 TV's are analogue. Mine (2004) certainly is.

I thin the change came with the new 5's and new 3's.

Our X5 is digital and I believe it uses the same TV modula as found in an M3, but I guess it depends on which year M3 you have.

Either way our TV reception is rubbish and if it hadn't have come as part of the media package, we wouldn't have had it.

Later models had a digital tuner - not sure when it came in, but all CS cars had it. It's meant to be an easy upgrade from analogue to digital.. but it's still rubbish!

Really? Should I therefore reconsider specifically gong for an M3 with the TV/Sat Nav? Looks the nuts, but there's obviously a cost involved, so if it's not all that I'll avoid it.

What do we think?

Cheers.

It's even worse with the new cars: they want £700 for a TV tuner module that can't cost tehm more than £30. I am an inveterate options box ticker, but there was no way I was paying for that.

Depends really. I regularly doing a 40 minute ferry trip with wait = 1 hour.

It's great for that, In fact I was watching PM questions this afternoon with a perfect picture thank you very much. Other than on the ferry I never watch it!

Agree TV is rubbish. Also think a £200 Tom Tom is better Sat Nav (I should know, I've got BMW Prof Sat Nav/TV in one car, and a Tom Tom in the other).

The cockpit looks good with the widescreen, and it helps with resale - Nav / TV is supposed to attract a £2k premium - so you could save yourself £2k now and get one without, or try and recoup it come resale. The Nav is okay, but things have probably moved on since it was designed.

Never worth 2k.

When I sold my Merc without 'command' which is essentially the same thing the dealers were umming and erring saying 'oooh it'll be worth about 1k less than if it had command'. Well thats fine then seeing as it costs 2k new, I've saved myself a grand! Same with the auto box.

Agreed. I'll stick it on the "nice to have" list then, and broaden my choices then.

Cheers.
