M3 v TVR on insurance

Hi, thinking of selling my 2001 tvr tuscan and changing it for an M3 (coupe or cab?) and am interested in what people are paying to insure these cars?? I will not be doing too many miles in the car but do now need 4 seats and a boot as the wife is 5 months pregnant and the tvr will become redundant when the youngster arrives. I am 37 years old with full protected no claims, car will be garaged and cover less than 5k per year. Is there a difference between coupe and cab in cost?? Would appreciate some rough ideas as to how much you are all paying, and i know it may not apply to my individual case but it will give me a ball park figure to work from! I currently pay £650.00 to insure the tvr (fully comp) with a restriction of 5k per year. Are there any reductions for buying one with tracker fitted etc?

Well my insurance on my 2003 coupe is quite expensive (£1,860) but then i am only 23 with only 3 years no claims. I believe having a convertable will add roughly £150-200 to your premium as aposed to what it would be if it was a coupe. As for having a tracker fitted that is bound to help make ur insurance cheaper, Alot of insurance companies wont even insure you unless one of there approved trackers is fitted, I had this with tescos insurance.
I would imagine the m3 insurance may be slightly cheaper than the tuscans purely because of better security features on the car and the fact its slightly less powerful.

its not cheap(like the nissan 350 was)buts its ok.

I was paying over £1000 every year for my evo e36, then last year with 10 years ncb and over 34, i got a company to do it for £789.

I got a quote for a tuscan, the cheapest was £1200 !!!

I know the qoutes can vary hugley but its good to hear that they are not much dearer than my existing motor, do the cars come out of the factory with a tracker fitted or is an aftermarket item?? Are there any speciality companies to use for insurance of the beemer?? I use A plan from pistonheads for the tvr and found them very competitive..

Tracker wasn't standard on the M3, but was available as a factory fitted optional extra, so many cars will have it.

Try the BMW magazines like Total BMW, BMW Car or go to the owners club at www.bmwcarclubgb.co.uk for deals on insurance.

My garaged 2003 E46 M3 cost £700 to insure.

I've just got a quote for a 2001 4.5 Cerbera with A plan, £700. Limited to 5000miles a year

I'm 39, full no claims, but 9 point over 5 years (zero points now though )

Have cerbera and M3 insured through A-plan, c£650 each.

M3 has Tracker and Cerbera is on limited miles (5000).

Otherwise each policy is the same

E36 M3 - under 5K year just re-insured with Privilege at £760 with 5 NCB, and I am 28. However I live in Norfolk!!

confused.com is always a good way to get a idea of pricing from different companys / cars, but dont go with the best quote, as I got from them £1150 as opposed the £760 with priv. other is tesco, they are always quite good
