... had a dig through some old invoices today - forgot to include the following in the 'why the bloody hell didn't they make the dammed things properly in the first place' list

4 x exterior mirrors that either failed to elevate or lost their polarizing oil £700 each and the rearview mirror that did the same. Ready for this one.

Guess how much?

Go on, I dare you.

Nope, not even close...

£500 at a stealer near you.

Again, all done on warranty but its the 'niggling' things that really piss you off.

But, my left side wing mirror didn't move when I got my car. I took it apart and cleaned the ten ton of rubbish out, including a cigarette butt !! and with a little grease presto, Its been working for the last two years.

The biggest negative of BMW is that it practices modular engineering and repair. Lets not try to fix anything just replace with new. Part of this is because the labour costs are so high, but part is because joe carowner is programmed to bend over whilst entering a BMW dealers. Granted you had warrenty, but if you hadn't would you really have paid that rather than trying to repair it yourself?
