But it;s a crap spec, 1 year old and nearly 10,000 on the clock, for 2k more I have just bought a 6month old 4,000 miles fully loaded version
I think you are missing the point mate... The Z4M Coupe does not need heated seats or SatNav with DVD... It's a driver's car... If you wanted these - get a M3... As with regards to being prudent - my Z4M Coupe is a keeper, thus I could not care less if it had full spec or not. The interior is coming out as soon as the warranty expires and it is being converted into a race car...

Good luck with your strip out, we're looking at building one as well, but from a rolling shell, possibly for GT4 next year
BMW UK are not very forthcoming with prices and parts availability for the race Z4M Coupe. It looks like I might have to do it directly via ///M GmBH or the likes of Schubert or Duller. Building it from a rolling shell sounds serious enough, but aren't you put off by the costs. Last time I checked, a rolling E46 M3 shell was in excess of EUR25,000 from BMW direct.
Why does it have to be a rolling shell, the GT4 shell is 17,000 Eur seam welded and caged, Z4 shells are 8k from BMW and the E46 shell is 3.5k, when you work out what it costs you to strip and prepare a shell so it's ready to be caged then it really does make sense to start with a new shell, far far better

You guys are on a different levels - with us is more like a bunch of mates who are clubbing together to built race cars on our own in our free time. Moreover, we are looking at the VLN in Ze Fazerland, where we are entering a 928 next season I know, but I am sure it will be fun...I think alot of it is to do with the amount of ex BMW cars for sale, nearly all the cars on the AUC are dec 06 or Mar 07, most are ex management so they're knocking them out, just a thought. Also, they are not as practical as an M3 and are therefore regarded as being overpriced in the 1st place, these sort of things have a habit of finding their own level and i'm sure it'll slow down
33k seems about right for the more basic spec cars, 34-37 for the better spec cars, i just bought one now for 37k fully loaded, 261 miles on the clock and they gave me 3K more for my M3 than it was worth so really 34k, cracking car for the money and I would say to you "DO IT" its the most fun i've had for ages, far better than the M3 in so many ways

You've swapped it for a Z4M then m33ufo?
Nope, sold the CSL totally out of the blue. I'm now not sure what to buy!My original idea was a 996 C4S but the Z4MCoupe is very tempting as it looks to be a bit of a bargain. The only issue being that the Z4M will (probably) continue to depreciate as long as BMW keep dropping almost new cars onto the market at low prices - who is going to buy my Z4M in 6 months when they can go to BMW and get one for very little more money.
Hell I may just buy another CSL, pretty much like having your money in the bank!
Z4 is the closest you'll get to a CSL without having one, if you buy well then I don't think the depreciation will be as big an issue as expected, the drop is horrific in the 1st 3-6months but i'm sure it'll level out, the no. of cars currently available does seem to be reducing slowly.
You're welcome to have a drive in mine if you want considering you're local(ish) I believe

What's your opinion on colours....Carbon or Sapphire Black???

I'm in Sully so dead close really, if you want to meet up give us a shout.
Mine is Carbon black and having cleaned and polished it yesterday I would say without a doubt carbon black, it is such a stunning colour, very blue in the right light, i've always liked black but shyed away from it as every bugger has black now but the carbon black is so unusual that i'm over the moon wiht my choice and couldn't see anything that would look better on it, its the perfect colour for the Z IMO
