Hi All,

No doubt this has been already covered but please bear with me.

I'm in the process of buying an 04 M3 Conv SMG which has just come out of warranty.

Has anyone recently purchased an aftermarket warranty for an M3? The ones I have found so far include Warranty Wise, Click4Warranty and WarrantyWise, they all seem to have their own merits but max claim any will offer is £7k and if anything big goes this isn't going to cover it.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Cheers

I know you'll pay a little more but can you not find either a car with BMW warranty still on it (then you can extend it when it comes up vai BMW GB) or buy one via an approved BMW dealer, as it will come with 12-months warranty (and again allow you to renew it after 12-months).

The E46 can be an expensive car to fix if/when things go wrong. You have to view it as a £45,000 car to service and repair, hence the cost associated with the new price, not the price you are paying pre-owned.

What is your budget? Surely there will be car with BMW warranty available within it? smile

Unfortunately just purchased yesterday so too late. Even though I am old enough to know better it didn't cross my mind at the time (doh).

The car is an 04 with only 6,500 miles on the clock so not been used that much at all, but as we all know that means absolutely nowt !

Warranty expired in June so too late to renew with dealership unfortunately.

Warranty Direct want £800 pa with max claim of £5k, however forgot to tell them I am a member of BMW Car Club so that should come down.

Also been offer a 24month warranty at £850, £10k max claim BUT no consequential loss or worn parts.

If WD stay true to form, they'll keep coming back to you with better offers over the next week or so. I'd expect them to come down a few hundred on that quote just to get your business.

and then fight you to the death to ever pay a penny out should you claim.

I take it that WD are not the best then (ahhhem)!

Best I have got so far after repeated haggling is £820 over two years, £10 per claim, wear and tear included + clutch and consequential loss.

Seems ok to me but I have never had an aftermarket wty so have no idea as to if they actually pay out or not!

Is the main dealer wty a foxed cost per annum or do they make allowances for low mileage etc.

Labour is only £40 p/h so no dealer for me

Have you actually tried calling BMW warranty dept?

Don't know if it's true but I have heard rumours of warranties being renewed after expiration of previous...

May be worth a try, they are found on 0870 505 0195.

I just renewed my warranty (on very last day possible as I couldn't decide!) and they were very helpful (especially when it came to taking the money!)

Good luck
