anybody have any advice as to what is the best induction kit for the e46 m3. i have noticed that the pipercross 4 piece kit seems popular but is it any good. your help would be much appreciated.

hi mate i use the k&N 57i induction kit,it works well, doesnt give any xtra hp,at the most 1hp,but it does sound good, although as i have race cats and and an unresonated x pipe it can hardly be heard any longer.

Not that i have one fitted to mine but i believe that GRUPPE M are pretty much the market leaders in this with regards to BMW's.

The only down side, as i understand it, is i don't think they're that cheep - the Gruppe M stuff (i know the CSL's are not cheep hehe).

Top bombing though Ross for just opting for the CSL instead thumbup

the gruppe M has proved nout to me in terms of much induction noise compared to the K&N.The K and N represents far better value for money.I own a gruppe M zorst although its not on the car at the moment.Just cos they make good zorts doesnt mean they make good everything.

i wouldnt say i was wrong,id say its a difference of opinion about which makes a louder noise-thats it.Induction kits do bugger all in terms of power, they are more likely to change power delivery for the worst. From what ive heard of an expensive gruppe,it wasnt louder than a k&N which was one third the price.I could be wrong tho,but doubt it,best thing would be is do a sound clip of mine and then a sound clip of yours.

Contact a chap called Dave Fin. He puts together K&N kits with the correct diameter collectors and panels to shield the cone from the engine. The E36 M3 kits are tried and tested and well thought of with a RR verified increase of 10hp. He's just started selling E46 kits after driving development.

I have a E36 kit on order, looking forward to the aural delight!

...and worth the wait they are too yes

I remeber the 1st time I gave it full moo after fitting the kit. Still think the noise not too dis-similar to that of an E46 CSL cloud9

Can't yet verify the BHP increase, but it defiantely feels alot more willing at the top end (not something the S50 was ever criticised for in the 1st place).

Oh, and did I mentioned it sounds rather good?

Hurrah, it's just arrived. Schnell, did you see the pic of the EVO that crumpled the smaller induction cone filter? Amazing!

Still interested in the plate btw?
