e46 m3-non smg resale values

Hi guys

very close to buying an e46 m3 manual this week. just wondering if the manual ones will be worth a lot less come resale than the smg's? is it worth paying more for an smg box? I would personally prefer an smg car but am very tempted by a cheaper manual iv seen.

Worth about £1K price differential (SMG will 1K more compared to a similar manual).

SMG good toy factor for sure!

You might need to pay a bit more for SMG on a very late E46, but people get nervous of SMG on older cars and they are often seen for less than a manual.

Dont worry about it. If it will not be worth as much come resale time, it should cost less when you buy it.
Buy the car that you want to drive, not the one you want to sell.

thanx for all the responses. in response to the last post unfortunately the car i want is also the car i think will be easier to sell- the smg. but iv found a good value manual so im a bit torn at the moment!

Get a manual then fit a short shift kit. SMG is fun but so is stamping an ACS clutch pedal into the carpet and changing gear so quick the revs hardly drop

SMGs frighten a lot of people off because of the potential repair bills !! Manuels are worth more on the slightly older cars and around the same on cars with proper warranty !
