Just wondering what u guys thought.Do u think the z4m is 2 understated or do u like the fact that there r only subtle differences between the m and the standard z4? Not talking about performance obviously. The only thing i aint happy about is the wheels which r pretty poor 2 be honest but the car as a whole is amazing.

I don't think it's understated at all and I actually like the OEM wheels, not as nice as CSL's but i'm not convinced that 19" is the way to go, the ride is too hard as it is

A very subjective question that and the answer can be largely summed up by the number of M cars that are sold I guess. For me, the basic ingredients are there in abundance but I like to modify and personalise my cars and things will be no different with my recently acquired coupe. I too have gone for the CSL alloys mainly because A/ They are a genuine BMW wheel, B/ Are light weight and C/ I will be having an AP brake kit fitted over Christmas and as the front discs are 378mm, will need the extra diameter for clearance yes + I really do think that they suit the look of the car.

I'm in the subtle M camp; however, I put some CSLs on last week and those do 'up' the looks. They really suit the car and I've noticed a 17.6% increase in admiring looks as a result. PS2s grip far better than the Contis. No ride issues.

i do think the z4m is an underated car, the only mag to recognise its talents is evo, with a few tweaks the z4m will become a very serious drivers car, strangely the z4mc to me has abit of e30 m3 to me, mite be rubbish but small package, excellent handling, powerful engine, im just waiting to find a cheepish set of genuine CSL wheels then im done and happy

I do believe the OP said 'understated' but now you mention it, I do think that to be a pertinent fact. IMO, too much was expected from the Z4MC and the scrutiny was so intense as a result, it could never live up to the expectation. Now the dust has settled a little and some time has passed, subsequent owners can learn from previous exploits ie. wheels, suspension mods etc. carried out buy some pioneering owners when the car was first made available and a truly superb car can be made with a few sensible mods.
