I'm a tvr guy (griffith 500) and an american racers enthusiast (and happy owner too), i've just bought a new M3 as daily driver, the car sounds pretty mean to me with the new 8 cil engine and 420hp i'm sure won't deceive my expectations BUT i'm used to other levels of sounds, i'm afraid the M3 is going to be a bit too politically correct for my taste so i was already thinking about a new full racing exhaust sistem...

question: what's the best, despite price? i know supersprint are pretty good and are studying the M3 sistem at the moment, maybe H&S?

Will i need to match the exhaust with a proper intake? will i have to review the ecubox?

Sorry for all these questions, i'm new to M territory and i'm trying to learn before the car arrives to the dealer end january, thanks/Giu

Whatever system you choose, get their guarantee it won't cost power, as the BMW design is probably very efficient as well as quiet.
BMW spent 2 years designing the exhaust on the original M3 and when a guy fitted a H&S system, the power dropped 26 bhp!!

Thorney motorsport may be able to help you, as they have a rolling road, so can compare systems.

Good advice...but i thought, as all exhaust sistems must somehow compromise beetwin legality and power, maybe bmw studied for so long an exhaust that could flow good power even if within an acceptable noice level...i want no compromise, i want the best flowing exhaust, despite its loudness.

What M3 are we talking about? E30? Would find it very strange if it actually dropped 26 bhp, or more than 10 % by fitting an H&S system!

Don't know anything about the E92 M3 exhaust system, but I'd check first if they run any butterlies/ flaps in the system which you can disable and thus have an "open" standard exhaust. My 335i has, and having the lh side tailpipe open at all times made a noticable difference. 2 min job, costs nothing at all. I am sure someone on here will know if this is an option on the E92. If that's not loud enough for you kreissieg in the us do some lovely sounding exhausts for BMW (they have vids on their website).

Regards,
Felix
