If you buy any M car do yourself a favour and dont think of the money.
Any M car is worth it over the standard ones.
The answer to your question is yes, it is worth it, there is a massive difference.

i have been playing about with the idea of a Honda S2000, BMW Z4 3.0Si coupe, Z4m Coupe and a 2002 996!

i cant work out what to go for...!!! i basically dont want to lose too much on depreciation!

Then buy a 1990 Rover. It won't const you a bean in depreciation.

How about the 3.0 and get it supercharged? You'll have M-bhp but loads more torque smile
Also, I want someone else to try it first before I start saving up...

Out of the list you have given I would imagine that depreciation would be less on the S2000, they seem to hold their value quite well.
The cars you have mentioned I am presuming would be within 1 to 2 years old?
Sadly mate I think you would lose money on any car that age. Have you considered a Z3M, E46 M3?
Do your homework and you could pick up a minter and only have 2 to 3 grand depreciation in as many years.

Not so sure about the s2000 as excellent as it is, its in the highest tax band and its not even that quick. Surely if your going to be paying 300 quid tax (1000 goodness knows when) a much quicker car is warranted.

Just bought a Z4M coupe.

There are deals to be done on new and used cars. Chose it over a 2 year old Cayman S. Much more my kind of car! smile

i test drove 2 back to back and the 3.0 was good, but the Z4M was soooo much better.. plus with the M you never have that moment at the traffic lights, when your sitting in your 3.0 and a guy pulls up next to you in a M lol (i did that the other day wink)

when i bought mine i got a much newer, lower milage, better spec'd M for about 4 grand more than the 3.0sport i looked at... okay so more fuel, more tax, more insurance etc but more fun! and i guestimated the M would depreciate less overall as its more of an enthusiasts car smile

Very old car and a Boxster S 987 is better in my opinion (C2 & C4). Expensive cars to own too...

i did consider it, however i've had a run of bad luck with the last 2 scond hand cars i've had and as i do 25k a year i needed reliability and piece of mind that a new (well 3 months old) car/warranty give smile plus mine lives on the drive of a fairly busy street i'm not sure how that would go down with the local toe rags frown oh and i really prefer the wide body 996'd and couldn't stretch to a C4S or Turbo
