Hi I am toying with the idea of getting an M3 EVO. What sort of MPG can i expect to get. I do 65 miles a day round trip to work, mostly on the motorway. but dont want too hefty fuel bill.
Cheers

20mpg around town (at a push), up to 32mpg on the motorway if you're lucky.

They ain't cheap to run!

Don't think you'll find the 3.0 as good on fuel as it doesn't have the 6th gear (but might be wrong)

I get a average of 24-25 on the lanes on the way to work and have seen 32 on the motorway or slow constant moving A roads.

I'd agree with that. Evo pootles along in 6th at 70 and well over 30mpg all day long.

And run then on higher octane only. More expensive but you get better performance AND economy.

I did an 90 min A road run at the weekend and averaged 28mpg.

It was P'ing it down though so I was taking it pretty steady smile

If you're worried about your fuel bill you shouldn't be looking at an M3. Or any performance sports car really.

I must get one as my E36 323 only gets 18 mpg around town.

The facelifted 330s have a 6 speed box I think.

Had my 3.2 Evo (therefore 6 speed) almost two weeks now. Done around 400 miles and averaging 28mpg (computer) with no town driving, all A road or motorway. I did get a steady 34mpg sitting at 75mph on the 200 drive home after picking it up.. Not bad in my books smile

How can you drive at steady 75mph??? I must have big feet as always stray towards the 0.9 leptons mark silly

On a serious note I seem to average 25mpg in London and Motorway driving in my Z4M Coupe. Last weekend did 110 miles in 52 mins on the way back to the ferry in France and achieved 16mpg :P

I ran mine for 2 years and averaged about 28mpg over that time.. (lots of motorway)

As others have said.. Expect 20mpg around town and about 30 - 32 on the motorway

But track it and you can see the petrol gauge moveas the rev counter does..

I have a 96 M3 Evo Saloon. I use Premium fuel and have a 35 mile commute with a bit of stint of urban driving and a 30 mile A road run. I have averaged 27-28 mpg over the last 8k miles which I think is pretty good for a performance car of this type (and age).

I've averaged 21mpg since I bought the car in June last year. My M5 Averages 14mpg. If I worried about mpg I'd have bought a Golf TDI.

It's an M3 and therefore trying to achieve maximum mpg is akin to jumping into bed with Anna Friel and anouncing that you happen to be gay.

All the way back from the Nurburgring at Easter weekend. 29 MPG with lots of full bore accelleration runs and cruising well above 70 all the way. Pretty happy with that.
