I think it's all been covered so far but there if this is a GTii you're going to see then it's pretty much a standard Evo but in Imola red, with the GT rear spoiler, Imola red leather inserts on the vaders and all the toys.
I bought mine as I love the Imola red colour and i think it really suits the E36. To get Imola on a none GT model would mean finding a car which someone had spent a serious bit of wedge on specifying Imola as an individual colour when they ordered it - I've only ever seen one none GT Evo in Imola red for sale.
Plus you're be getting one of the last ones made as i believe they wer ethe last 50 cars sold in the UK. Mine is a January '99 build on an S plate but I've seen them on T's too.
Cheers
Paul

It is a Gt2, hopefully we can find some common ground on the price and I will have a new toy!

I am finally going to see the car tomorrow (the owner has been away on business). I will let you know how I get on sorry - just being nosey
I see from your profile you have one, any issues I should be looking out for?
As we've said it's, a standard M3 so all the usual advice applies. It's definitely worth a search on here, if you haven't done already, for opinions on Vanos, clutch braided hose upgrade, servicing etc.
When I bought mine I replaced the rear window rubbers and all the body / bumper rubstrips which really smartened her up. Cheap and easy job to do yourself. I'm sure you've looked at servicing costs but an Inspection 2 will be aroung 5 - 600 quid from an Indie - something to bear in mind as a bartering point if ones due or the car hasn't been used for a while..

I went to view it today, and drove it. Mechanically it is faultless (brand new M sport supplied engine less than 2 years ago) and the whole car still has 3 months of BMW warranty remaining on it. sorry - just being nosey
Cosmetically it's a different story. The exterior has a few parking dings and the odd bit needing attention, but it is original paint and has not had any repairs. The interior on the other hand is quite scruffy, there are rips in the suede on the drivers seat and the gear knob is ragged. It needs a bloody good tidy up.
I think I could buy it quite cheaply, it's whether I want to make good a scruffy condition but mechanically excellent one or just buy a good all round one for more money.

Why did it need a new engine? The S50 is relatively bombproof and will do 150k+ miles without any documented need of attention major attention. Sorry to be so frank, but with the little you describe, it sounds like a dog. If it's been owned by a real enthusiast, then there's no reason why it shouldn't be mint. If it's scruffy, it's because it hasn't been looked after, plain and simple.
Plenty more out there

I am not green when comes to BMW I have owned 12 of them.
I might well walk, but I can probably buy it for <£6,000.
Do you think that it is worth it?

Evos aren't rated to 321bhp, it's 321PS which is 316bhp - it's a mistake in the BMW literature.
They did the same with the 328i, the BMW print rates it at 193bhp whereas it is actually 193PS.
Thats new to me...They did the same with the 328i, the BMW print rates it at 193bhp whereas it is actually 193PS.
I thought that BMW always wanted to be the clever-dicks to break the 100bhp/litre barrier which they did with 321bhp...
Hi,
A bit late to this, but I agree with one of the previous posts, I'd walk away. The car's only ten years old, has a new engine and a scruffy interior. Service history in its basic form is always a good thing, but the car has clearly been left wanting in the care department if the interior and exterior have been allowed to get as scruffy as you describe on a less than average mileage car.
Getting the car serviced regularly might sound good, but a lack of care between services, coupled with enthusiastic/abusive driving.... What else has been neglected below the surface?
Plenty more fish in the sea with good E36s!

Mechanically though this car is perfect: New suspension all round in the last year, new pads and discs in the last year, new engine(and I know a lot of these engines had problems)Supplied by BMW in the last two years, BMW full warranty for the next 3 months.
Cosmetically, I think it could be done for a thousand pounds. If I paid under £6,000 for it would that really be a bad deal?
Many thanks, for all your input

Looked at one in London which was owned by a millionaire. Drove pefect, a wodge of documentation about an inch thick, but the car was really tatty.
The interior was awful, scratches everywhere, aluminimum trim looked as though he had rub sandpaper over it.
The exterior had never seen polish, carbon black was turning purple.
Despite its low milage, BMW warranty, just like you I simply couldnt do it.
