Are people really so averse to SMG???
I am trying to sell my car and have had a few people come to look. It's in VGC, low miles and a good colour / spec. They have all said that had it been manual, they would have bought it.
Why they came in the first place, knowing it was SMG, is another question which annoys me.
That aside, I am seriously considering doing a SMG to manual conversion just so the damn thing sells. There's nothing wrong with the SMG so I guess I might be able to sell that as a spare / replacement unit to somebody.
Am I going nuts or what??

No, but internet warriors have upset the apple cart with stories of unreliability etc.
I'm personally not a fan, but I think there is a 'stigma' attached to the E36 SMG that puts many off.
IMO your best bet is to reduce the price more rather than swap out the box as it is not a cheap job.

I wouldn't buy an SMG, not because I don't like the idea of SMG but it is another expencive thing which could brake, The risk of a big bill out ways the benifits of SMG to me.
I was looking at 355's and one thing i will avoid is the F1 gearbox because its expencive to fix if there's a problem. Both of these cars were the manufacturers first attempt at semi auto and from what i've heard not as good as later attepts.

Not cheap, but not daft money for mileage, condition etc etc and obviously open to discussion. No point starting at 4 grand if your lowest price is 3,999.
Beginning to frustrate me as I have seen 3 cars I would love as a replacement to waft around in alongside the ultimate goal of adding a 2 seater to the stable...

Like I said on the phone, found out the 3.0 is cheaper insurance bracket so turns out I can have my cake and eat it too (sort of). So now looking again!
Give me a shout when you're back home.
