xenon headlights playing up!!!it is out and then works!!!!

it seems to be my xenon headlights are?????does anybody know??
one minute is on and the it says on the dash that is out and then next time it works????

mine does this o/s headlamp.

I had a similar problem on my E 46 M3 at about 4 years. My dealer said the problem was with the control unit, and the only repair was a replacement of the combined light/control unit. I did not have time to investigate and accepted this story. It cost £1,050!!! I shall be interested to hear what alternatives there were.

oh god i hope that is not the problem!!! i swaped them over and theyu work so far let see what happens??but i am sttting myself to be honest although the senoir thecnition in here said it could be the something else not the bulb something like..it's usually the ignitor on the back of the bulb ...
so i trust him ....

Any time I had a problem like this it was usually a sign that the bulb was on its way out.
