right, i was planning on having an e36 m3 as a second car, sadly insuring both cars seems like a no-no. Even if i insure the M3 as my one and only i cant seem to insure an evo for a sensible sum (tried everywhere)

this leaves me with the non evo cars.

few questions:

-i would prefer a car with a LSD. is it true the later non-evo cars have LSD as standard ? 95&96 ?

-since i will be running the car as a daily is fuel economy much affected by the lack of a 6 speed box on the Mway?

thanks,

rick.

All M3's have a LSD, so yes, a 95/96 will have one.

Yes, the 3.0's suffer from not having a 6th gear. Typically an Evo will makes about 6-7mpg more on a cruise than a 5 speeder 3.0.

As above, they all have LSDs.

What's the difference in the quotes you've had for Evo vs non-Evo? Would you do enough mileage to make that back in fuel economy?

this is why i'm asking dan ;-) maths look good so far.

funny about the lsd's ...i've seen a few bits on the interweb saying lsd was optional on pre-95 cars?

good news :-)

Every ///M car ever made has an LSD. It's what defines the breed.

IIRC the 3.0 is group 19 and the EVO, 2O. IMO the Evo is worth the extra though.

IMO too.

The Evo is a much more sorted car. They developed it beyond just a ccs and slight power hike. I understand there were also suspension and chassis changes too
