The article didnt say is was going to be an M version, just that it would sell as well! I would expect it to be more of an i.S version, like the old 4.8iS X5
Or like the 130i M Sport which isn't a true M car.
i'd like a 1 series M car, although people might not like M1...

would be a great car!

This M version seems to elevate the X6 to a whole new level of pointlessness, not a car I'd be interested in owning really, but I like the fact that it exists.

I think the most annoying thing about this article is that they have confirmed there wont be an M-powered version of the 1-Series - Now that would sell! The 135i is a cracking motor, but still BMW need to try harder.

What the hell is wrong with people on here?!

Well handling, well put together car to get big engine to make fast.

..and people are complaining that the tyres will be expensive and it'll use a lot of fuel?!!

The comment about if you want to tow then buy a landrover? Sorry but I couldn't disagree more. If you want to tow AND go offroad, buy a landrover.

If you want to tow a horse box at the weekends but then commute to work in the week, an X6M would be the perfect vehicle.

It'll be on the shortlist for replacing the RR in the summer if they make it.

Good on these manufacturers for having the brazen-ness not to cave in to the greenies and to get out and make these things (Cayenne S, RR SC, ML AMG..) There is a lot to be said for wafting around in a daft quick 4x4.

BUT! I realy just dont see the point of the X6! why take the big X5 and lower the roofline and reduce the number of seats!!??
Equally, you could say "why take a 3-series touring and lower the roof to create a 3-series coupe with less space ?

The Three series started out as a two door sallon in the first place, So there is heritage there, And who would bemoan a reasonably economical small car to wear different body styles? But in this day and age regardless of whether you belive the global warming hype or not, Surely It is rational for us to belive in conserving the enviroment?? I have seen a couple of these monstrositeis on the road, Driven by those of compromised ego, And for those protecting our right to buy as we choose, Well when there,s no raw material left to build with and all the cars under ten years old have been scrapped because the yaw computer is worth more than the trade in value, What choice will there be then??

As for towing horse boxes??? Most horse boxes I have seen are being towed by the same L reg Discovery!!

great... a massive pointless car. why would anyone want one? oh i know because women like to be in huge cars so they can feel important and not EVER let anyone out at junctions, and fat cats with small cocks need them to feel less inadequate and a bit more potent. tyres will only be around £300 each and will last about 4 roundabouts, and the 10mpg on a run is awesome economy. it will never be sporty because of the high centre of gravity but hey at least it will do 140+mph at 5mpg due to its great aerodymaic properties.

WHY?
The day I can afford one I will so enjoy caning it past you and your miserable anti 4x4 militia.

And how does that differ from a normal Supercar?

Better equip them all with 1.9 TDI's and Pirelli 6000's then.
erm..... it differs from any other supercar by not being a supercar.
I worded that badly,

My point was that you are complaining at the quantity of consumables you reckon it will get though, but then most supercars get through petrol and tyres at the same rate Barry Austin eats a packet of biscuits.

But you are not going to complain about such issues every time something like a new Aston is reported on P.H, are you? So why are you so enraged at a (awesome) BMW being guilty of this? The people who can afford such a masterpiece won't be too bothered.

ETA: I realise I have worded it quite bad again.

Sounds like you were tailgating it then

Bit unfair to call it ugly if you are so close you can only see a close up portion of it.

I took one for a drive yesterday and I can tell you the handleing is simply staggering. Not just staggering for such a bigcar....overall, just staggering. In he SUV market, no other SUV would see where it went on a twistie road. What they have done is mesmerising with regards to dynamics and handling.
No, it is too big to handle well. Dynamically it is only built for car-parks so footballers wifes can easily park it.

wink

you didn't read the review on here then about how the thing handles....it's amazing for such a big car.
Come on now, this is pistonheads forums. Why would he read around reviews and make an informed decision?

Better just to perpetuate stereotypes and write off the car.

Its simple really. Its a "F**K YOU" car. If you dont like anything about it, its size, shape or even reason, then its doing its job, which is "F**K YOU".

There have been many in the past, this one is just pushing the boundary even more. No one needed a 500bhp 4x4 Porsche, no one liked it, yet it was really successfull. "Dont like my Porsche Cayenne? F**K YOU I dont giv ea sh*t!!!!

With all the government, lefties, greenies etc getting their nose out of joint on this, i'm surprised PH'ers aren't more approving of it. You dont have to like its design, but you surely have to admire any company that can turn around in this day and age and build a very sucessful (for it will be) massive great "F**K YOU" car.

In nearly all walks of life, efficiency is the key. This car isn't that. Ditch it.
Can we have an M1?
