M60 Drive train slack

Hi John,
Got the car back from Elms Bedford last Saturday after 3 more days of gearbox investigation. The gear change is now perfect. Nice one Elms!
To get this sorted they have made a number of changes over the past 6 months:
1. New clutch and flywheel
2. New clutch position sensor
3. Oil service which included SMG gearbox/final drive
4. New rear main oil seal and assembly
5. New release bearing and gearbox sleeve
After the Oil Service there was noticable improvement but it was still clunky.
It was only when they made the last two changes (4 and 5) that the problem went away.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Morning Chris, I'm jealous!! I have had a spark plug service now but my contact at Elms has left, so it means starting from scratch again, my problem if anything is getting worse in that I sometimes now have a delay when I shift from drive to reverse, maybe you can give me the details of your Elms and I can get Stanstad to talk to them or even take mine to them. Thanks, John

Hi John,
The last set of work (4&5) was done by Steve Bedford @ Elms Bedford. That said most of the team have probably had a look over the past 6 months.
By all means, if you call them mention the problems I have had and the fact that they have sorted my car. I haven't seen more than two other M5s in Bedford over the past year (bound to be corrected on that one!) so I doubt they see many.
Give me a shout if I can help out re: the dealer, meet up, etc.
Cheers,
Chris
