Is there much of a difference between a Z4M and a 3.0i..?

Interesting point on MPG there - I get an average of 27mpg from the 3.0 auto. Conversely, I get an average of 27mpg from my M3, and that blows the little Z away.

Fantastic value for money isn't it Boobles? But sadly, only if you can afford £18K +! I can't anymore so this one will be buried with me in Pendine Sands when I leave this world.

The petrolheads of the UK will never ever see bargains like these in their lifetime again.
18k + ? for a z3 m ? I did a straight swap for my S1 Elise

The 3.0 you drove has the same suspension as the M
Not true, the M shares very little of it suspension with the regular Z4, for example the front struts are totally different and are not interchangeable.
The Z4 he drove had M suspension, so I'd assume it has the same struts...is this not true?
No, the M sport stuff isn't parts of the Z4M in the same way all the other M Sport cars aren't, they're just a way of making them more sporty for people who want stiffer suspension etc but think the M cars are too hardcore.

Z4M rides better than the 3.0. I agree suspension is different from the 3.0 but not seen the pictures so thanks for that! BM cash in on the cashet of the M branding but if it's not an M car its just not the same..... I thought the real M would be harsher than the 3.0 but its better!

Tried a Lotus Exige and you really need to be a gymnast to enter or exit with any style! eek. Much for expensive at the moment, year for year, than the Z4M. As an ex-biker the Z4M is the only car I have ever driven that offers the Woooohhhhhhh feeling you get with a superbike every time.

I apologise for any misunderstanding - both ways. I had a Z3M Coupe for 8 months in 2000 (when I could afford it). It was one of those rare cars that stick in the mind after you sold it, & wished you hadn't. Times & technology move on & the ///M cars just get better.

However, we are living in troubled times (until the next General Election) with a Government mainly made up of Blind, Idiotic Scotsmen who have never held a driving licence in their life, take £65 - £130K salary + over £200K in "expenses" (Plus the £100k+ in "office expenses" paid to their wife/offspring). They could not run a one man company with any success - never mind a bloody country. People don't realize that the idiot Alistair Darling was the Minister in charge of the CSA (Child Support Agency) in 1997. I personally went onto "World in Action" in 1997 against him. I got nothing but grief from the CSA until 2005 when I no longer had obligations. Last year I finally burnt papers over FIVE inches thick from the CSA. They were bloody horrendous. Not once in some 16 years could the CSA get it's sums right. I was always in the st according to them.

I'm out of it (but severely pissed off by these Scottish wkers- as you might tell). I don't consider myself racist after a lifetime of seving HM Government at their orders. But I will now give a "Glasgow Kiss" to any Scot or Irishman who pisses me off in my local pub.

I'll say no more & consider myself banned from Pistonheads now.
Quoted for when you have a moment of mental clarity and realise you're posting on a thread that asks questions about a Z4M and that this isn't the P&P

Gotta agree with the "wooaahhhh" feeling. I commented recently elsewhere on here that after test driving an M6 I got back in the Z4M and found it much more exciting to drive (this I got mocked for by various!) - but I stand by this, it's a much more involving experience and _feels_ faster even if it isn't.

There are only two problems with the Z4M in my view:

1) Any passengers will get thrown all over the place at lower speed on anything but a flat road probably vomit if they get at all car sick
2) It's impossible to go for a "normal drive" in a Z4M, as much as you try to convince yourself that you'll just take it steady, it never happens - it's too much fun!

I find the ride not to bad TBH. Previous car was a megane F1 which has a spine destroyingly hard ride. Its not as supple as my also previous car a vx220 2.2 but then if you want no body roll in a 1500kg car there has to be some trade off. The Z4M is far from being hard compared to some of my previous cars though.

Having owned an Elise S2 & driven many Exige's I would say that the Exige is "Hard-Core" as you put it. The Exige is no different to the Elise. It is as basic as they come. A ridiculous amount of money for what boils down to a "kit-car". The car may have a little 10" steering wheel but it can't cope with Norfolk backroads - which is where it was designed for. Who would pay £30,000+ today for a horrendously noisy & uncomfortable fibreglass piece of poo that doesn't even have the basic air/con & decent stereo, electric windows et al of a £9,000 Toyota IQ?
Easy answer: They are driving Nirvana.

I'm already browsing classifieds for my next VX220 or Exige after I've had my fun in the Z4. No other car I've ever had has got so under my skin. Have already owned 2 VX220s and no doubt I'll have one sat in the garage whenever I have a reasonably sensible daily driver. The VX and Z4 offer up thrills in very different ways but to be quite honest if I had both there isnt one I could say I'd pick to drive every time............

I think if you had the M engine in a VX or Lotus. I might be persuaded..

The lotus is more about handling finesse really. I never tired of my VX despite it puching out all of 148 BHP. I've driven a stage 4 VX turbo that would comfortably be quicker than a Z4M but my humble 2.2 VX was more go kart like and fun.

Chucking an M engine in one IMO would ruin it. having a good power/weight/expoitability ratio is key to making a car fun.

my car was almost the exactly the same, it had done 2.2k and has DSP though, i paid over 30k in July from AUC... at the time it was the cheapest available in the country (i'd been watching prices every hour for 3 months after writing the silver one off wink)

something to compare it too smile i'd be supprised it that car is less than £25k looking on AUC at the mo?
