My dad has an E36 M3 GT rhd we have a running problem where it starts and ticks over fine on all six cylinders and will rev up fine. But when you drive it and put it under load it’s flat and missing, can anyone give me some idea of where to start looking? Any help will be much appreciated thanks.

Sounds like a problem with the Vanos. If its not been tended too at any point in its life, then the rubber o-rings will have shrunk causing oil to leak past and the cams won't move as they should.See if its got any error codes stored with a code reader. Look for camshaft position errors and see if the cam's are advancing/retarding on a live feed of the code reader (if you have one...!). It would show expected cam position and actual cam position - they should be pretty close. If its got an issue with the vanos, you'll see a discrepancy.
Then get Steve round to fix it! https://mrvanos.com/
