I am looking to do a track day at Oulton Park soon, had new standard brakes and pads fitted at my local dealer last month. Do you think they will be ok for the track or should i be looking to change them? Also does anybody have a set of CSL wheels for sale?

Nah, you're fine on the standard set up.
I had a great day at Oulton and was doing around 20 minute stints with 20 minute breaks with no issues.
Will post a few piccies up....

I did oulton in oct , I was on pilot sport cups and my new std set up lasted till lunch time !!
Had to run to demon tweeks (25 mins away) to get some more fitted. Bugger!!!

Now on AP 6 pot with 355 discs, much better.
I have done 25 laps at the ring and donnington since, what difference they make, stops like you wouldn’t believe

kind regards simon

Nah, got (now shagged) conti 2's on that have lasted 22K miles plus 4 trackdays and 8 laps of Nurburgring.
Been through two sets of brake pads though and now run Pagid Red's.

I did have Cups but prefer the 'slideability' of the Conti's

Has any one got any thoughts on the TAR*OX F200 braking system (TAR-0X12)

Why bother with anything other than the AP racing setup - it works for everyone who has it (which is a large percentage of UK CSL owners I'd say), pads are easy to get, it is known not to knacker the master cylinder or upset the brake balance and is pretty cheap.

They're not called 'Yellow Stuff' for no reason ... my piss is yellow but is also useless...

Please don't take this the wrong way but people who have owned CSL's tend to know what works and what doesnt work ... don't bother trying to re-invent the wheel with this!

You have two choices which have been tried and tested.

1) Pagid RS-19/29's front and back, decent fluid, braided hoses.

2) AP's ... maybe just the fronts at first.

Of course, there are other options but these two are tried and tested routes people go down when upgrading the brakes on a CSL.

Pagid yellows (RS19 or RS29) are good, I'm giving Performance Friction PF01 a go next though as they get rave reviews.

Oola,

Brakes like the AP6 set up, do they make a lot of noise if not being used hard? When i find one it will be as much a every day car as a track toy. My old 968cs brakes made terrible noise when not being used hard and not sure my girlfriend would be happy if she has the same thing everytime she pulls up at lights.

Also are the xenos standard on all csl´s?

Xenons aren't standard, they're a weight adding option like a stereo and aircon.

Noise depends on the pads and how much use, Pagid RS29 can squeal a bit if not used properly for a while, bit of hard use and they shut up again. Something more road oriented like the DS2500s are silent.

Ah, yes that's what I have on the front and Pagid Reds on the rear, they are little rough and noisy when cold but pretty much fade free for around 10 hard(ish) laps...

I've had some bother with RS29 knackering disks due to the brass pins in the pad material.

Are you running APs?

Nope, and my disks are stuffed now, I do suspect the pads have done a bit more of that but hey ho that's the price I pay for not upgrading to AP's...

For the OP though I reckon he just needs to get out on the track and stop worrying too much. If his style is hard on the brakes then he'll soon assess what he truly needs.

The only issue I've had is the bloody brake reservoir cap leaking fluid!
