Hmm - my biased retort is awful styling which is an overhang heavy parody of the lovely original; awful parping exhaust note , fussy detailing , a turbo engine which may have poke but c'mon , it's another generic 4 pot turbo ..Not that my ND's 16 valve 2 litre is exactly original- how much better that little V6 would have been .
Brakes - No complaints about mine, it stops just fine - but I am notoriously light on brakes anyway

I bought an Abarth 124.
Better looks.
Better brakes.
Better engine.
Better gearbox.
Better interior.
Better dash.
It's great we have so much choice, even tho it does lead to some folk making the wrong choice Better looks.

Anyhow, I see from photos online that it also has the same huge radio mast sticking out the back as the ND. It would be good to find a replacement that was a bit shorter.

In your opinion - to which you are entitled of course - but road tests would disagree, it's more expensive, doesn't look better (IMHO), dash and interior are pretty much the same and COME it's a FIAT - but no really :-).Better looks.

I did - a snappy little sharks fin for 20 quid from Mx5 Parts was it ? No risk of eye being poked out now . Anyhow, I see from photos online that it also has the same huge radio mast sticking out the back as the ND. It would be good to find a replacement that was a bit shorter.
Been toying with the idea of getting one of these for a while myself. Like the styling, and - although I do like it - the fact that my Alfa Spider is FWD annoys me a bit (and I'd like something a bit nippier, although until I drive one I'm not sure the MX5 will be).
I am concerned about some of the comments about underseal and gearboxes though. I know the old ones rust badly, but I assumed that was sorted by now. And if I was to buy a car with lots of depreciation left in it (which I virtually never do) - I was at least hoping for some fault free motoring. A new gearbox on a car that's a couple of years old would not be OK!

Autocar magazine this week says MX5 upgrade due this month, anybody have any information on this?
https://www.pistonheads.covm/news/general-pistonheads/mazda-mx-5-gets-more-power-update/38464The 1.5 is still looking like my number one choice to replace my Fiesta ST next year. Test driven it a few times now and I utterly adored it every time I got in it. The 2.0 is just not worth the extra cash to me personally, although I can see why people who take their cars on track would prefer it.
Here's hoping the telescopic steering wheel is also included on the refreshed 1.5 car when it is launched - dealer told me today that it has also had a significant power boost of a mighty 1 BHP.
