So time for the bumpers.

Taking the NA one off was an arse...

...Mazda truly have made a European sports car. hehe

NB.5 front...

...cut a notch just below the side reflectors.

...put a sting between notches...

...mark with some matte Nardo grey. If you don't have any use primer...

...now cut along the line...

The same for the NA bumper but due to being curvier I had to use fine masking tape.

Not too bad...

...I then cut a strip from the NB.5 bumper and used Tigerseal to stick and fill the edge.

Plastic bumper filler goes brittle after a while so I hoped windscreen glue would be strong and flexible enough.

Sanding was more problematic than I expected. I should have keyed the edges better. But painted and refitted...

...I'm glad it's a track day not a concourse. wink

So the butchered back bumper got massacred while I was at it...

...full "Br-br-br-brap! Brap! Chair!" spec' innit?

Gratuitous grass cutter shot...

...cutting the original bumper at the top of the grille and the Mk2.5 an inch or so about the gop line (gopping) the bumper sits lower without adding a lip.

So the track day was yesterday and while I wait with baited breath for the "action shots" to go live I thought I would give you all a little update.

The fog light brake vent idea had a teething issue...

...the pipe I could afford was a tad too big and fouled the front wheels on full lock.

So back to that drawing board. smile

I added some more lightness...

...raided my shed for a bum holder.

Neither fitted so I found one on eBay for £34. :-)

Glad I kept the bonnet sticker from last time. The black gelcoat would have been hot in the Sun.

Got some tyres...

...picked the wheels up I bought before Christmas, but...

...the 21mm lugs were too big and needed to get some new ones.

If anyone was wondering why the blue spoiler...

...now you know. smile

I tried to adjust one of the shocks...

...but even heating the ring with a gas torch and clamping the tension from the spring wasn't enough.

So I was bump stopping again but at least I'll have brakes, tyres and an engine working properly this time. biggrin

PS

Thank you again to RS Van Hire, this is not an advert' or sponsored placement. I'm a happy repeat customer.

That looked a lot of fun. Was that a MX5 OC event?
