Just a couple of pics on my phone, the stripes not my doing but I've grown to like it.

Looks brilliant. What wheels did you go for. Love them.

Hi Smitters, sorry for delayed response!

I got them from MX5parts.co.uk with some decent Yokohama tyres. Probably not the lightest in the world but love the look of them. I went for 15”.

Eek. Masking around the windscreen trim never ends well. Sorry.

Hi Glassman, no need to apologise. I’m actually still not happy with the 2nd batch of painting (which that picture is from). The colour match just doesn’t seem right. I will have to bite the bullet at some point and get the lot redone in 1 go.

Long time since I updated this thread. New family addition and life in general got in the way. Rear suspension rebuilt and new strut braces for the front and rear are the main updates. Also managed to clean out the garage so it can sit in there out of the cold weather. Only managed 700 miles in 2022! Need to remedy that when the weather improves.

Some more photos to follow.

Hi All,

I’ve been the lucky owner of a 1999 MX5 for the past 3 years. A very generous gift from my Wife for our anniversary. It cost her the princely sum of £700. I wish that was all it had cost me!
Well done Mrs McQ, that is an excellent present!

Last pic for now. Hoping to get on some owners club runs this year.

Thanks! She was looking at the car earlier and said this must be 1 of the best presents I’ve got you! I agreed! Love it.

Are you a member of the MX5OC? Some NW runs coming up in March. I'm currently de-JDM'ing my Mk1 for the summer - had a Mk4 last year and enjoyed some great runs with the club.

Hi Ian, thanks for the reply. Yes a member of the NW club. Only done 1 run so far to Betws-y-Coed a few years ago but we really enjoyed it! I’ve kept the route map as would like to do it again someday.

Good luck with the Mk1 changes. Love to see a pic and hopefully see you on a run.

Love it, I miss mine. I too had a 99 on a V so feel your pain with the rust remedy! I recognise the inside of Carl's workshop too!

I always wanted to get the Blink stage 1 package, I got as far as running an ME221 and that was going to be my next step but life got in the way and it never happened. How does it drive with the extra power?
