Maybe the later SCs were developed a bit more in terms of fit? Mine is a Mk2, maybe that makes a difference.

No, he's not an original owner. He's had it for I guess 2 - 3 years now. It's Richard who owns Maztek. Probably the quickest Le Mans you'll find, and you could eat your dinner off the engine and chassis!

There's a good one for sale at the moment but it's up for £13k which IMO is too much cash.

The SC bracketry is basic...

If you're lucky you'll wonder what people moan about...

If you're unlucky you may have to shim the SC and one or more pulleys.

Its hardly rocket science though.

I've just fitted another SC at the weekend.

Agreed that it is hardly rocket science, but one firstly has to find out what's wrong when these things start happening. After enlarging the holes and beeing able to get the SC more backward, problems were solved. BTW this was in 1996/7 (so 10 years ago). At that time it was still called Sebring and was actually still in it's development stages. Later Jackson Racing and Moss junped the bandwagon and it got distributed better. Not to much expirience around at that time.

It is distributed better but the kit is basically unchanged.

I got my first one about then...

Its a lot easier now with the forums / internet.

Trying to deal with a Mo$$ tech guy in the states who knew less about the product then you did was very frustrating !

That's why I started the SSCOR (Sebring SuperCharger Ownner's Registery) with tech website then.

Was an excellent site.

I believe the info is still up on the lightweight miata site.

M45 is still a great kit, shame all the interest has moved onto the MP62.

I certainly think so.

You can play with the back at sensible speeds so much easier to recover.

Also its a convertible which makes me feels more 'exposed' to the environment, the Elise is a targa really.

Admittedly the Elise is faster on a track but feels slower on the road to me due to its low torque.

... and the MX-5 has the slight advantage of being half the price for a second hand one.
Might be time for me to start shopping for one.
By the way, does anyone know what the Mk1 MX5 weighs?

My mk1 S-Spec 1997 Eunos with air conditioning removed, a set of light wheels, a full tank of petrol, full washer bottle, full oil, full tool kit. No driver; on the local weighbridge came in at 960Kg - 460Kg over rear axle, 500Kg over front axle.
