My darling wife has decided she needs more power for her 1.6i MX5 (51 plate). So, how do you go about getting 180-200bhp shoehorned into a Mazzy MX5, and who should I get in touch with?

You'll be needing a turbo or supercharger than biggrin

To be honest, your best bet would be to sell the 1.6 and buy one already tuned. You never get back the money you spend on the upgrades. It all depends on whether upgrading it would be part of the fun or if you just want a quicker car.

I'm selling my 5 soon! Wanna buy.

1.6, cheapest upgrade I can think of is a Jackson Racing Supercharger setup, check out http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum and click on the "For Sale" section I think there are a few JRSC kits on there.

...my thoughts exactly!!! wink

will you be going for a facelift car? I'd love one, but think finances will only really stretch to an '02

I suggest driving one...

I was bitterly disappointed after an SC'd 5.

Feel much bigger, less fun and have to keep it on the boil, ok for a weekend car I guess.

I'd like to try an SC'd 2000 though.

S2000's are loads of fun to drive, you really have to rev to living tits off it to have fun but it's really worth it, go out with the S2000 owners club they are a mad lot, they ain't no MX-5 but drive a well set up one with the geo tweaked and a punchy exhaust and it's great.

nubbin you can find my car in the Pistonheads For Sale section.

As for replacing my 5, I have plenty of options, not sure yet!!
