My 1.8 reads over at speed. Down at 30 it is spot on, although at 80 leptons the speedo reads 76. When I got mine, the speedo was out across the range, reset the needle to be accurate at 30. (Well I do live in London, and there is not too much option to go above that!)
I believe there is always some discrepancy in actual/indicted speeds and that speedo is set up to read fast.
You will over time get to know the speedo error and mentally adjust for that.
As an aside, if you do compare speed using GPS, do it on the flat as the GPS measures speed across a horizontal distance, you will get wrong speed calcualtions on a hill.

If your car is a Eunos then it could well have a conversion gear added to the speedo drive. My dad's 1.6 Eunos has one, and it's terrible, I was out in it with my GPS the other day, and I reckon it over-reads by 120%-130%! at an indicated 60 the GPS said 50, and the at an indicated 40 the GPS was 30something :O
