Feel better today, wave at by a different Mk3 and then exchanged waves with a lady in a Mk 3 going the other way in a traffic jam. I was starting to think Mk3 drivers may be anti social! (I'm in a Mk 1...)

Never get waved at by any other mx 5 owner.

I think some owners do not even visit forums or in the club.

I have a Mk3, going into town (York) on Tuesday, waved to 5 MX5s, only one response. I think it was a Mk1.

Are Mk 1 drivers considered more sociable then? Discuss!

I only ever get waves back from mk1's, the rest kinda look funny at you...

Hmm, I'm starting to see some softening of the Mk 3 drivers, I think Mk 2 drivers are the laggers in the waving stakes.

I pick my Mk1 up on Saturday, I'll have to give the wave a try on the way back.

Keep waving! I got a thumbs up from an Aston V8 Vantage driver the other day - as we sat in traffic, we both decided to put the roof down at the same time! Pity he only had to press a button, whereas I almost ripped my suit trousers and popped my hip out trying to unzip mine....

Used to allways get happy friendly waves when in my midget, that was many many moons ago though.
I think that the MX is just too popular (there is a lot of them about),i prefer to think that
thats the reason and people are still just as friendly. Maybe the amount of traffic has quite
a lot to do with it as i have noticed when on quiet roads you usually get a nod or wave.wavey

Just found this thread - but it co-incides exactly with my findings. Male Mk 1 drivers wave, others, forget it.

I fall into Cat 1, and I encourage my missus to do likewise!

Good man! As for profile, I think it's more women that wave than men... perhaps it's a Cambridgeshire thing!

I don't drive an MX5 (yet, am buying one!) but whenever I let MX5's out of junctions or across my path it's always the Mk1 owners who wave thanks.

Mk2 onwards owners very rarely nod or wave thank you.

Hmm, no wave from Mk 3 I saw today (Huntingdon) - but did get enthusiastic recognition (and let me past some parked cars) from a fellow Mk 1 in black in Peterborough!
