I'm assuming you shouldn't spray De Icer onto a plastic rear window - can anyone confirm if it's ok or not?

Cheers

Shouldn't hurt it but I never did it in my 7+ years of Mk1 ownership.
Plain water works just as well.

While we are on the subject, if the top is very cold do not put it down or it can crack. With the glass rear window, if it's icy then don't scrape or knock it. I've heard of people trying to knock ice/snow off from the inside and the window has shattered eek

Just use room tempwater from your un-boiled kettle. Works fine with no worries.
