My roof leaks (apparently, only had it a night so far so don't know) - but it looks as if its been wet on the inside.

Can you get sealent like you can for tents or something to re-seal the roofs?

probably to do with how its put up, try lowering the windows and putting the roof up, then raising the windows. If i just throw the roof up mine leaks, if i drop the windows a bit first it doesn't.

I'll give that a try, but the previous owner seemed to think the water was actually seeping through the fabric.

If its a Mohair or canvas hood you can, try WWW.Holden.co.uk. Vinyl hoods should not have water seepint through the fabric, it might just be condensation.

How old is the roof? My 8 or so year old vinyl roof doesn't leak. Is it fraying on the seams?

If just the edges of the seats are damp I would recommend spraying the rubber seals above the windows with silicone lube spray (3 in 1 stuff from Halfords works well).

Sorted mine without problems thumbup

If it's just white marks on the inside of the hood then don't worry about it, that's not a leak and is pretty common. You can improve it a lot by using Renovo Cleaner & Ultra-Proofer (you can get it from MX5Parts). This will deep clean the hood and apply a fantastic waterproof coating with the added bonus of making the hood properly black again.

I should add that the Renovo stuff is just for the outside of the hood, not the inside. To clean up the inside just use a stiff brush. If it still remains and you want to make it black again use a bit of black boot polish (I haven't bothered myself). The Renovo will stop moisture getting through the hood and feeding the fungus (I think that's what the white marks are) so will stop it getting any worse though.

I'd definitely recommend the Renovo products, they brought my hood up a treat. It's now back to the colour it should be!

You might not need a new roof as such. Try adjusting the rubbers.
