Don't really see the point of A/C in a convertible though...
Depends where you live I guess but when you're getting baked by the sun with the top down in the middle of summer its quite nice to have some cold air to stop you sweating too much. The other side is that AC is very useful for demisting the windscreen on cold mornings, or when its wet and you have to drive somewhere with the roof up.
Not vital, we did without it for years before it became common but its one of the more useful automotive luxuries IMO.
As a daily driver, I would strongly recomend the Mk2.5 if you could get one within your budget. For sitting in traffic etc the seats are much more comfortable than the previous design being much thicker (which is the reason I want to replace mine with elise seats...).
To be honest, with the driving posistion being pretty much spot on, they are remarkably comfortable places in which to spend a few hours. I've driven all the way to Le Mans in mine and got out feeling reasonably fresh - the advantage of having someone who understands ergonomics designing the interior!

also, i wouldn't discount any cars without an LSD from your search, they really aren't that important imo.
Really? Do you mean for normal road driving? I'd like to track it and maybe even do a few sprints or hillclimbs so would've thought that for that kind of use an LSD would be best...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwq9fo1I0PY
Just re advertised it (I had sold the SC but the buyer dropped out at the last minute)

If you're hill climbing then I would say that an LSD would definitely be useful. I don't have one and going round Pardon hairpin at Prescott results in lots of tyre smoke while I wait for the LH rear to find traction.....
It's much the same at Wiscombe Park at Martini hairpin.
I've just changed suspension to Tein Superstreet - it'll be interesting to see what effect (if any) that has.

I'm 23 and have touched the subject of FI with insurers.
Quotes have doubled, but its only £288 standard anyway, so no biggie.
Can I ask who that was with?Quotes have doubled, but its only £288 standard anyway, so no biggie.
I got a quote from Adrian Flux today for £700. To be fair, I've got one claim hanging over my head (still got the 4 years of no claims though), but apart from that there's nothing that should bump up my premium.

The 'standard' quote for £288 was from Esure.
Both quotes limited mileage. Esure includes free business use but the Flux quote is Social Only (All I need). £450 Excess I believe.

Going to test drive a 2000 Mk2 this afternoon, not quite the weather for open top motoring at the moment, but at least I'll be able to find out if the roof leaks!
