Just bought a 1990 Eunos in red with a radio/tape and CD player above. Am new to MX 5 world ... the car went great on the test drive and the only problem the owner said he had, was the CD player would not play all CDs....haven't had a chance to drive the car properly yet ( roll on Sunday) or test this, but i would appreciate some feed back....is this a common problem and is there a solution? or is it just a nasty old CD player? thanks

Does the radio still work? If it's just the cd part of the unit that's failed it would be easier just to replace it. £50 will get a cheap CD head unit from somewhere. Although it might be worth spending the extra and getting an MP3 head unit (No real room in the 5 to store cd's!)

If the radio doesn't work, it might still be the unit or it could be some bad wiring behind the dash (if the unit has been replaced in the past and an ISO block put in) or a fuse.

Thanks for your comments...was on drive today and tested it out...Panasonic radio/tape and separate Panasonic CD player which i think are factory fit...all work fine except the CD does not like some CDs for no apparent reason...but i think i will just live with it.......but what a great car! i am lucky to own some serious car kit but the MX5 is great for the Yorkshire Dales and i had a wonderful day out...used to own a frogeye sprite and this is like a new version of that and i am beginning to understand why so many get attached to the little car...not a lot of power but enough and stunning direct steering .
