Shouldn't I be clearing drainholes and plumping out rood seals too? I'll do some more research into this at a later date.

Fortunately my roof seems ok, just get a wet right shoulder/arm when I brake after the car has been in the rain.
I have the same problem frown

Any suggestions please?

Am girl with no garage/tools atm frown if that helps biggrin

It's the rubber seals above the windows. They're supposed to channel water to a drain hole but over time (constant window up & down motions) and the hold the water until your brake. Usually a sign that the roof isn't keeping the water out the seals in the first instance.

You can buy the seals from Moss I think. try replacing them berfore the hood itself.

What does the edge of the roof look like? The seam above the drivers' window.

Mine exhibits the same leak, and I have narrowed it down to a cracked seam. Taping it up with Duct tape solved the problem.

Yep, getting the drips here too. I know there's a couple of small tears on my roof that are letting in water and it's dripping down through the rubber strips. Can't afford a new roof yet though, got to pay for an MoT and some sill repairs first!

I've heard that using a silicone spray on the seals can help in prevention of the drips, has anyone else tried this one?

I also found this earlier on the MX5OC board:

I have exactly the same problem. I tried winding the window down and then up again but it didn't stop it. I'll check these seals of which you speak.

When you brake? Sounds like it's coming from the drainage hole area, behind the top seatbelt anchor/mount point.

It's a bit of a faff to clean out these drainage holes (if you haven't already) but it's certainly not too difficult. You have to unzip the back window, lift up the bit of carpet (I had to unscrew a stopper thing) behind the seatbelt and you'll see the drain hole.

Ali, top tip. Drive down the road then before the first bend nail the brakes. All the water shoots into the footwell biggrin You just need rubber mats till you sort it properly, in the meantime job's a good un hehe

woohoo Managed to narrow it down today - this weather had to be good for seomthing, right? hehe

It's coming from the joint along the window, I've stopped the bit coming from the front by putting the seals back where they should be in the rim smile

I've been blow drying the carpet on the drivers side this weekend. Returned from 2 week holiday with the car parked on a drive to find the driver's side carpet soaked. Got no idea as to where the water is running in from. It didn't seem like a big leak before but I gather the weather here has been torrential. I do have a couple of cracks on the hood seam.

Any pics/guides as to where all the drainage holes are. I'll have to repair the seals too but it looks like you have to take the seals off the hood and I don't have a garage. This could be a major problem in our climate!
