The fuel light came on the MX for the first time today... I drove about 15 miles with the light on before I got to my favourite Shell garage.

I managed to squeeze just over 40 litres in the tank. I thought it was supposed to have a 50 litre tank - having 2 whole gallons in reserve seems an awful lot? Is this right or is my fuel light not working correctly?

I don't know what it is on the later models - but on the MK1 I'm sure it's a 47 litre tank. Oh, and it doesn't have a low fuel light frown

I guess you must have a late Mk2.5 then. My 2001 Mk2.5 doesn't have a fuel light. On mine I leave refuelling until the needle dips under the empty mark and even then I very rarely get more than 45 litres in there. The most I've ever put in was 48 litres and there was clear space between the needle and the empty mark - I'd done about 70 miles after reaching "empty" laugh

So basically yes, you should have a 50 litre tank and the fuel light comes on very early.

Yes, it's an '04 Sport - loving it! I put up a thread with some photos in Readers Cars.

Cheers for the replies - guess I'm just lucky to have a fuel light at all!!
