Matt - please post a photo of the racehorse laying down 400 feet of rubber.
.... with tires that cost $520 EACH? I think not.

Pro tip - just find a photo on the internet and say it's you:

And there's the rub - this pic is a regular Challenger with either 245 (Scat Pack) or 275 (Hellcat) section tires - neither of which are up to the job, but create lots of drama.

Widebody Challengers have a 305 section tire as standard and the wheel will accommodate a 315 section tire without any rubbing issues - but when they get that big, they also get rather expensive.

I burned up my original (crap) 305/35/20 Pirelli Zero Nero all-seasons in less than 16k miles, so a degree of restraint is required at the lights in order to avoid heartburn in the wallet. The replacements are not only wider, but stickier summer-only compound.

The benefit of the bigger footprint on these cars is very, very evident in both traction and grip. For a 4200lbs boat, it goes round corners very well, compared to the skinny-tired versions.

That's pretty good for that kind of power to weight ratio and accessible grunt, I guess.

I've been through tires in lesser cars way earlier, and the more expensive the sooner...

Yep, the rear P-Zero's on my BMW 135i used to last only about 9-10k miles, and that was not driving like a loony either, mostly a 70 miles per day commute around the car park that is the M25 at the time.

Strange you mention that - I ran a 120D Sport auto for three years and I was lucky to get more that 15/18 thou from the rear run-flats......they would go down to the lining almost unseen and deflate.......

I'm now feeling rather inadequate, because I didn't destroy my tires fast enough......

A little different to most of the motors posted on this thread, and my first rod for a few years...'29 A, all steel. Stablemate for the Bonneville and the Checker.

Better than you thought it would be? How's that, didn't you think it would be very good? Given I've got a C7 Z06, I would have thought your ZR1 would be just as amazing (or very nearly)
After owning many Corvettes, muscle cars, and an 735 bhp GTR the performance of the ZR1 was much better than these. The car handles great and the carbon brakes are amazing.Yes I’m very pleased with the car.

Finally, during lunch my friend showed me a few cars online, one of them a 65 C2 Corvette, a manual convertible with a nice colour combination.
Quite close to where we were at the moment, almost local.
Called for inspection, we drove up, nice chap, nice chat, nice car.
Being a medium 327, after all that torque from my other yanks almost tame, but drove pretty okay with small issues, nothing major, even without power steering nice and easy to handle, nice burble (not that almost obnoxious sound from my Camaro, which drains you out after half an hour), all tops good. Inspection underneath showed good maintenance, no issues whatsoever, the usual drops of oil, but all ok.

A very good deal done, now I'm the proud owner of a lady's spec C2, and it feels wonderful.

What a beautiful car, and the best part, it's an honest driver's car, a few blemishes, a few cracks in the paint here and there, a little grubby inside, but great from a few feet away. Nothing to worry when parking outside, and everything is working.

Never thought I will get a nice C2 in this price range again, as I hesitated last year for so long that 'my' car was sold when I was ready. Never had a deal done in two hours from seeing the ad and making a deal eye to eye, though.

Oh well...

Yes, pics:
