Lets see your Yank tanks!

Thanks guys! First venture into both classic and Yank ownership so I'm a bit excited/nervous
It's a numbers-matching car from Texas, but other than that I don't know a huge amount. Has the usual Z28 upgrades, posi-traction etc, black leather interior. It needs a bit of a tidy-up cosmetically and a proper Z28 spoiler fitting and front valance replacing. The chrome is pitted on the bumpers and trims too so I'll probably have those done black. The main work is in the clocks and wiring but its a solid car and runs sweet, although the shifter is taking some getting used to! Took it for a quick test run last night as the Sun set though and I must admit I'm in love!

Couple of things to watch out for. F bodys were bad for rust! One area to be aware of the the lower corners of the rear glass the metal trim covers a drainage channel and there is a small hole either side of the corner here rainwater is supposed to drain. Sadly this gets blocked quickly and water sits in the chanel rotting the steel away.
So make sure you give that area a good clear out. and even add some additional protection paint. another way to check if everything's good it to pour water into the chanel with a draining can and check for leaks in the boot. If you do find some then im afraid its a case of cutting out the rear glass (its stuck in) and then getting new steel welded in place. (which is what I had to do).
Just realised you have the 74 which did not have the wrap round rear glass so you may fair better than I did

To be honest most of the rust has already been taken care of by the previous owner, along with some mechanical stuff too (brakes, engine, box). You could be right on the bumper alignment, I'll check into that. So far I've only had chance for a quick run out and then stuck it in the garage! Havent even worked out where the bonnet release is yet
