So after 5 weeks and less than 1000 miles the 5.0 engine is done...…..apparently a new engine is en-route from the USA.

Will report with more details as and when.

Hopefully the story will end well!

Need more information. Head gone, bottom end, both, through normal use?

Glad it's under warranty for you

Reject the car. You shouldn’t have to accept a repaired vehicle.

That sucks. Is it a new 2018 or a 15-17?

Quick update , been working hard so not bothered me too much...

So from what he wife tells me (it's her car after all) Head gone, scoring and internal piston issue. So new engine en-route from USA via Germany should be in the UK any day.

Apparently they (Ford not the dealer) have acted shocked that this was a first (cough , cough) so if anyone has had similar problems let me know so I can call bu11st...

2018 registed MY17 ShadowLine Manual with less than a 1000 miles, nothing done service wise and not really pushed prior to the problem.

Just one of those things I guess. Dealer has been good in dealing with the problem.

Update. Got the car back yesterday.

Diagnosis was scored cylinder 2 , looked in a bad way with grooves all over it .

Anyway new engine installed and no harm done.

Apart from a Ford Edge for a few days we had a MY18 fury orange fastback. Apart for the digital dash and adaptive exhaust I could tell no difference.

Wife now wants a louder exhaust......

There’s been a massive issue in the US with these new 2018 engines... a lot of us Brits are getting engine noise that sounds like metal on metal around 2000rpm, ford are telling everyone it’s a characteristic of the car..

This is mine - 600 miles, could you let me know if yours started like this or if Anyone knows more about this issue?

Thanks very much

Ours is a MY2017 registered in 2018. Not the facelift.
