But how come my 70 Challenger R/T was put in a J plate in 77 ?
And my Late Dads 57/69 Firebird was put on a K plate in 73 ??
That does seem to be the exception rather than the rule. And my Late Dads 57/69 Firebird was put on a K plate in 73 ??
I can remember most imports back then on plates of the year they were imported. There used to be a guy with a '57 Chevy Bel-Air near me around 1979/80 that was running on a 'T' reg, and I well remember a fast and loud lime green '69 Charger in South London on a 'V' plate.

That must have been a hell of a hit ! What happened ?
Racing at Santa Pod in 1988, returning to the pits & got T boned by some tt in a borrowed van, his mate had said he could practice his hand brake turns in it.......It wasn't that hard an impact, but no B pillar doesn't make a strong car.
