Spur Classics have a video out, think it may be on You Tube, Don't want to upset you but they have a 70 T/A in the blue with white stripe.
Think it's part of his private collection, Seems like a genuine guy, been reading his adverts in "Classic American" for years.
Hope your visit to the consultant went well

To be honest a bit of a shock!

Advanced Arthritis , plus loads of other stuff!, need a full knee replacement, so now on the wait list, nothing he can do to keep me upright in the sort term, so a bit scary laugh
Getting old, Manual labour job all my life, has taken its toll, think the Consultant was quite surprised at how mobile i still am, given the amount of damage to my knee!

I'l try and find the TA on the Spur site, just out of interest lol, i'l never be able to afford one now laugh

Sorry to hear this, not what you want to hear any time let alone with what's going on with everything else around you.

You sound like a resilient positive person who gets on with things no matter what obstacles get in your way , not easy especially when you are in pain,

My ex/ business partner also has knee problem ,he's 74 so slightly older than us but he had major surgery around 11 years ago and had a pigs valve fitted and a aorta artery replaced so because of his age and the fact that a animal valve usually only safe for around 10 years they won't operate on him saying it's too risky,

Like you he's been doing manual labour all his life both at work and home ,like us his hobby is the same as his job.

I've suffered from arthritis for a few years ,not much the doctor can do apart from pain killers so they told me.
Managed to get Covid 19 in April and went though the worst 3/4 weeks of my life , Indescribable what i went though but managed to stay out of hospital .

Still suffering the after effects and damage it's left in my body, doctor doesn't know if it's permanent and i will have to live with it or may mend in time.
They don't understand this virus and seem to be learning all the time themselfs.
At our age should be chilling out enjoying life more,

Living near the beach and New Forest this time of year all the retired couples visit in their brand new campers , looks ideal having their lunch chilling out.
Those campers are not cheap ,around £60/£90 for a top of the range, probably on Government pensions plus their state one.
Would buy a split screen camper but they are £25k /£45 now and will probably break down every 10 miles

Better get back to thread before someone complains it's not a medical forum.
Weather looking good so out in the Challenger again, that will make the world a better place.

Don't believe it , i just sold my SP 250 3 weeks ago today, Only reason i bought it was 30/40 years ago when i was running around in English sports cars when they were cheap ,E type's, Healey's TR's ect but i never got round to owning a Dart,

One was advertised fairly locally to me at a sensible price just before Christmas so another one off the wish list.
Good honest car, last owner 25 years and the first lady owner in Cornwall for 10 years, mechanics 100% with beautiful interior and chrome wire wheels but needed a repaint really and didn't help as it was black , wasn't embarrassing to drive just you wouldn't win any prises for the paintwork.

Definitely a Marmite car ,my son thought it was the ugliest car he has ever seen and we have owned a Gremlin.
I would call it quirky.

Big money now if mint condition, Lots of interest and viewing but a different breed of buyer to the yanks who seem to want to get on with it ,

This lot was like Dads Army ,could have been related to each other, same tweeds ,same questions and although most were retired they would insist on coming on a Sunday ,probably went to the nearest tea house for their creamed scones on the way home to complete there jolly.

The paintwork looked better in the photo's than in the flesh,i think they were out of the depth when it came down to painting a glass car.
Sold it to a dealer from Cheshire who bought it unseen and relied on his transport guy to go round it.
Shame we didn't have this conversation before, you may of had 2 Darts to paint.

You probably did have Covid even in February ,it's like nothing else ,one of the guys who came down to see the Dart thinks he had it as early as December.

I mentioned in one of my post's that i followed very briefly a sublime Road Runner but he branched off for the M27 Motorway, I think it was a 68 but not sure, wheels were polished rims with dark inserts and may of had a black Bumble Bee stripe ,by the time a caught up with him he was going down the slip road,

Although a long way from home it may be the same car,if you get to speak to the owner ask him if he was in or around the New Forest area ,just out of curiosity.

Weather getting hotter Sunday onwards so make sure your out and about in the orange beast, it's a long winter.

PS The video on Spur Classics seems to have been taken off, odd as i only watched it yesterday morning.

Spot on with the Tweed thing, think its a hairy arse kinder thing, Big Healeys have the same type of buyers, Proper Britsh Beef!
Shaguars are a bit smoother, Button down collar check shirts, badly fitting Levis and huge brown Brogue's laugh

And yeah the Dart is a bit funny looking, i love em, must be the Polyester , its a Boat thing lol...........................................
Not sure what the job is, hopefully frame work,
Looked at L plate 6Ltr XJS rag top yesterday, one of our guy's failed it on the MOT, the owner thinks its a 30K car, the under side is a mess,
Rear floors, sills, Track control mounts and rear bulkhead completely shot, the front floor looks very tender too ............
Tons of work, who buys a car like this without a proper inspection??
Its a Jaguar and almost 30 years old, monumental rusters lol....................................

But with prices rising the tweeds are overlapping into the American world, mainly Mustangs, some Mopars and vettes and it looks like bull nose T/A now. Lets face it there the only ones that can afford them now.

I have got wind of a manual T/A 70 or 71 but is more than double what i got for the Dart so need to let something else go to afford it .
It's in a private collection and not advertised as yet so may get a chance if i get my finger out.

Shocked at the price of that one in American E bay ,will they get that kind of money for it,crazy crazy, prices seem to going up still in the states
i would have thought what with all the unrest and the virus plus the elections things would have slowed down, i suppose like here the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I love E types not so much the V12 had them from when i was 19 so when the XJS came out i was not impressed but when they came down to my level i bought one and although not an exciting sports car like the E type that would scare you half to death especially in the wet thought it a good car for fast touring ,very smooth and quite fast and apart from the thirst and oil leaks did the job well .

Had a convertible and had to leave it outside in the winter,i might as well left the roof down, when it rained so much water got in.
It was very wobbly with the roof down as well .The cabriolet although not so good looking with it's Stag like roll bars was a better car structurally . Can't believe they value the one you have to work on at £30k ,

With no car shows to go too and summer coming back this week i'm going to spend my time on my second hobby, chilling out at the beach before autumm really sets in,could be the last chance.

Is the TA from the ones in Sittinbourne?
some time back a guy who deals in Astons, had at least 2 cars, one was a manual 70 Ram Air car, think the other was a 73?
both white,
Think the 70 was around 60K, i'l never be able to afford one,
As much as i hanker after one, they just cant be any better, turn any more heads, sound and drive as nice as my RT does, its just the nuts on the road, so good for a 50 year old motor,

Enjoy the beach/sun, winter and covid are lurking just around the corner!

I completely gel with this comment. Over the years having been incredibly excited to go and look at a yank and then being totally disappointed as it has been a misdescribed pile of crap.
Taking this out at Silverstone tomorrow for its first run round out since last year. You would not want to know how much money I have got invested in this car. The legacy of using some really bad guys to prepare the car originally.

That's more like it, why can't all Mustangs look like this.great stance looks like it's doing 100 mph standing still.
Looks a serious bit of kit with serious bits no doubt.

Cost's a fortune just to undo what they've got wrong and get back to go.

Enjoy Silverstone, weather looks perfect

No , I don't think it's that one, this is more local to me, the guys had it for quite a few years, He's one of the fortunate few who has had the foresight to to able to hang on to his cars and didn't pay much for it and with the help of internet knows exactly what he's got .

Don't know what the draw is with these yanks,i've been bought up on mostly European performance cars but whether it's the combination of the tractor mechanics along with the challenge of driving them ,they seem to respond better to getting hold of them buy the scruff of the neck technique of driving unlike the finesse of the European cars.

Up grade the steering, brakes and suspension add a Stroker to the mix and it doesn't get much better .

For cruising around there's no need for any of that as they drive so much more modern than most of the British or European equivalent cars from the same era. The land yachts are bit floaty but that's part of their character .

It's hard to look at the Challenger being 50 years old both in looks and the way a good one drives,60's,70's drive so much better than 50's stuff but even there ok once you adapt your driving style to them .

When my daily had to be taken off the road for a couple of weeks i didn't want to hire or buy a car just for that time so pulled my 64 Riviera out and used it daily for 3 weeks, apart from tripling my fuel bill it didn't miss a beat no issues at all .

There's so much Theatre going on, turns a simple drive into a event and it almost feels like your in a film, silly i know.
Your orange paint must really pop in the sunshine , at least people can see and hear you coming.

Yes had a great day on the beach and hopefully a better one tomorrow, with both my hobbies being summer orientated i'm dreading the winter especially with my arthritis. not a lot to look forward to so going to make the most of this week.

Thanks for your last comment,i don't need reminding.

And yes i know what you mean regarding the winter, as i get older they get harder to cope with, god know's how this one will pan out,
and thats one of the best things about running these types of classics, they can be used all year round, half decent heater/demister,
pretty good weather stripping/seals, side windows that actually run up and down without fuss all adds up to the car that's warm and still just fun,
Obviously i wont use it when its wet and horrible, but a nice winters day , we'l be out!

As ive said before, got a few jobs to do over the winter, which i'l start getting the bits together soon, fortunately the postage cost from the US has gone back the almost affordable levels,

I'l probably buy and fit a rear TA duck tail trunk spoiler, and if i fit chrome bumpers, i'l satin black 2K the rear lamp panel,
So got plenty to do!

Do you think you'll go for the Trans Am? your lucky to be in a position to hear of such things, this part of Kent seems be almost devoid of American Muscle, seen a couple of lads roaming about in a leary HellCat, had a chat to them ironically enough in a gas station !
They were doing the old and new pics no doubt for face book etc!
Hav'nt seen the Road Runner as yet, guess it would be different if our local monthly meet at Minnis Bay had been on??

Hope you decide to go for the TA, be great to have one here, i cant afford an early car, but its been over 30 years now since i sold the last TA i owned, i'd seriously consider buying a turdy 74-78 , trouble is most of these are well out my budget!laugh

[laugh

Hearing about the T/A and getting it bought is two different things, Even without it not advertised yet i still could lose it in a second ,word and mouth and all that.

Just have to stay on it and hope it's still there when i've sold something to finance the rest of it.
Not many around so will be along time before another one comes up at a sensible figure.

If this one falls though i may look for a 74/75 T/A ,maybe easier to find and cheaper .Like the look of them and think they still have the smaller rear window.

When i saw the Road Runner it looked in cruise mode in as much all windows were down and only the driver in the car but he was heading for the Motorway so who knows he may be heading your way,I've never seen it before so probably not local ,

It's good that the hard work been done on the Challenger and can be enjoyed,With the pressure off you can add and improve in your own time.

The bumpers don't look cheap items but probably cheaper and less bother than rechroming the original ones.

Got to the beach but took 2 1/2 hours to do a 3/4 hour journey ,total madness worse than a bank holiday.
Although the kids are back at school all the retired couples and who's left on furlough were out in full force in their Hyundai,KIA's and Micra's shopping trolley's falling over each other and not in any hurry to be anywhere particular. Expect tea houses and garden centres did well today.
Spent most of the time in 2nd and 3rd on a 6 speed box with the rev counter bouncing off the rev limiter.
Glutton for punishment, going to do it all over again tomorrow.
PS.
A bit of back pedaling may be called for here, Apologies to anyone who may drive one of the above ,
I know some of you are aware that they are capable of more an 20 mph ,if not try going into the next gear, there are more than 2, and the indicators are standard not a optional extra.

LOL.....................................................

Starting to think i should do a Add for my Challenger, just seen the one down in Ringwood on Ebay, a composed 74 car with a built 440
60K laugh

the world has gone completely doolally ! 40K for a 69 Mustang Notch also on Ebay, its a miracle , i can now afford a 70 Ram Air TA, cos its obvious my S code RT must be worth at least 90 grand :clap

Anyway back on earth, i know what you mean regarding the small rear glass cars, but 74' on cars all have that hideous rear thing the replaced a beautiful slim chrome rear bumper, so to me any model from 74 will be a compromise , so i'l consider any year, even ones with the olds motor as long as it a manual,

But as above, these yanks are hugely overpriced, and like 70's Escorts, most have been rusted to death, crashed, had big holes cut in the roofs, painted 10 times, had 20 owners bah bah bah ................................

Now a few minutes have passed since i started writing this pooh, so it follows that my Challenger must now be worth 93K
FFS..................................................................................................................

Would you accept £92k ,final offer.
I saw that Notch Mustang for £40k,it's a job to get my head around Mach 1's for that type of money, not a good looking car the 69/70 notch.

To get £60k for that 74 Challenger you would need a Lotto winner or footballer to buy it,if you've won your fortune and you want a Challenger, any Challenger, it's easy come easy go, Footballers get paid an indecent amount so like buying a Mars bar.

There's no way anyone who has worked hard to save their money will be paying anywhere near that sort of money, would have to be a 70 matching numbers R/T at least. What would my old 70 383 matching numbers R/T in one of the best colours be worth now ,or
should say what would they ask.

You are wright there must be so many patched up wrecks about which when at the old money were ok as we knew what we were getting into but now with prices being so many times higher i bet there still about .

Now the money's in them they should have a proper restoration instead of just a shiny paint job..

ye i forgot about those bumpers just reminds me how wright the bullnose T/A was ,
There was a 74 T/A 455 sold on Ebay , winning bid £13k and it was a manual .
It was E bay so may not have sold in reality.

With that Challenger advertised maybe a good time for a ad at a price you could replace it with a 70/73 T/A,at least yours is in a proper Mopor colour.
